So, who do you think is second in command after Ironhide?
Ratchet or Sideswipe
Ratchet is a medic, and therefore I don't think he would feel comfortable being put in as second in command over the Autobots.
Sideswipe on the other hand is a warrior who seems to know what the combat situation calls for, so I'm thinking it was planned for him to be second in command should anything happen to Ironhide.
This. The only reason I want Rachet to be Second in Command is because they tend to die. And I'd rather have Sideswipe over Rachet any day.
I'm thinking Ratchet. Sideswipe strikes me as the grunt type.
If Ratchet had his way he'd order the Autobots to leave Earth and live on an asteroid where no-one would get hurt.
Anyway, I did love how Sideswipe took charge and gave out orders in Optimus' absense.
Ratchet. I'm guessing he has more experience
Sideswipe , since he was given commands when Optimus wasn't there after Ironhide died .
Ratchet. More experience
I'd vote for Sideswipe.
Ratchet is a medic while Sideswipe is a warrior and was trained by Ironhide, that could also mean that in battle ,Swipe makes thinks a way out of a bad situation quickly
Sideswipe. He is my 3rd favorite movie-verse autobot.
Sideswipe. Ratchet has more experience, but I don't think he'd want to compromise on his duties as a medic in order to take over a command role. Sideswipe seems to have worked closely with Ironhide (valuable experience), and as a soldier through and through is probably more than capable of acting as Optimus' second on and off the battlefield. I expect Optimus would use Ratchet in a more advisory role during downtime, due to his greater experience, without compromising his medical duties.
If you go by the Tech Specs, it would actually be Roadbuster, who has a rank of 9 whereas Ratchet and Sideswipe are both 5s. Also, I could see it going to Bumblebee just because he's Bumblebee
Anyway, given the choice between Ratchet and Sideswipe, Ratchet has the higher tech spec total (59 to 53) plus the higher intelligence (9 to 7), skill (10 to 9), and courage (10 to 7)--the three main attibutes I would consider for leadership.
Therefore, I would say Ratchet.
This is why I hate tech specs. They make no sense.
This. I love the fact that Ironhide acts like a mentor to Sideswipe. The "class dismissed" comment made me smile.
TECH SPECS ARE PURE TRUTH--THEY CANNOT BE DENIED!
I can live with Ratchet and Bumblebee being chosen over Sideswipe, but Que??? He doesn't seem like the guy who gives commands. He's too... weird?
I've already posted this in another thread, but my bet would be on Ratchet, Bumblebee or Sideswipe. All 3 of them have their strengths and weaknesses, but I think that Sideswipe might be the one to take the spot. Ratchet doesn't seem like the leader type, nor does he have the fighting skills to turn the tide in a battle. The others need to be able to look up to their leader. Bumblebee might be a good leader, but at the moment, he's still too young and unexperienced. Though I could see Ratchet keeping the spot warm until Bumblebee is ready to take over from him, but for now I think Sideswipe is the best choice.
I'm alone on this, but: Ratchet.
Sideswipe lacks enough brains to this rank, Ratchet, on the other hand, has more than enough.
The fanbase honestly just wants Sideswipe as the right-hand-man because he is more badass, ignoring what a second-in-command needs way more than just badassery.
Ratchet. Ratchet has wisdom, and that's what matters. Also, Ratchet seemed to do a lot with Prime in Dark of the Moon. He went to Chernobyl, and the moon on important missions with Prime.
I don't think it's only his badass-ness. He's also a better fighter than Ratchet and seems to have studied under Ironhide. Also, Ratchet is the medic, and it might be hard for him to give orders and work on wounded bots at the same time.
