Bay's directing is sufficient to cause outbreaks of nerdrage.

Bay isn't a particularly sophisticated director. Transformers isn't a particularly sophisticated IP. So the director matches, in my mind. I don't care for Bay's directorial style, but if I had to select a director for the next movie, picking a replacement would not be easy.

Man. Bat costume. Punching criminals. Guess that third Batman film can be handled by Stephen Sommers.

Why are fighting over how the movie was instead of the director's well... directing?

Because you touch yourself at night.

Btw, I presume you love Michael Bay, not that you think Michael Bay is love. You might want to remove that apostrophe.

I like Michael Bay, I really do. And I like the look and feel of his cinematography. But he's not the best there is. You could do worse, but you could also do way better. I really wish Bob Zemeckis had signed on to Transformers. :(

He's Okay. Definitely not the best. Mostly good action scenes, Shots and other things, but some parts were just   or :sly2: .

I like Bay's directing- he appeals to the action-driven, 13 year old in all of us. That being said, as an action movie, I thought Revenge of the Fallen was good. As a serious movie- not really, but as an action movie, hell yeah. I think some people fail to realize that.

No worries. People loving Michael Bay I can cope with, people elevating Michael Bay to godhood... *shudders*

It also depends on having source material to work with.

If Monopoly turns out to be better than The Dark Knight, I will eat a hat.

Again, my apologies for the big-ass (and, ultimately, unnecessary) post.

Personally, I think someone is a bit too touchy on what is and isn't a good film.

Transformers has a lot of character and mythology to it- there's no doubt about that- but characters and plot points, much like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Iron Man, had to be reworked so you could fit it into a movie timeslot. Hell, despite the mythos and characters, Transformers has been rebooted with a new look and new characters dozens of times over and this movie is no exception. And, it seems to me that Transformers is following in the footsteps of another famous movie trilogy, the Pirates of the Caribbean series- which had a great start and then turned into a CGI fest with a craptastic plot- and even then, it had to stretch a plot over the second and third movies. Of course, I won't get into that because this isn't a PotC fan forum.

Sledge, could you please restate why you hate the movie? Is it because they "ruined" characters that you are familiar with? The mythos, perhaps? If so, you are a Transformers fan, and you should, to some extent, be used to this.
