I actually liked DOTM better than the first one. Don't get me wrong, the first one was great, but I just liked DOTM better. It just had a better story IMO and was a great movie. Other than the horrible shifts in tone and abrupt ending, I enjoyed DOTM more than 07.

DOTM IS The best of the three in my view.

Ironhide shot on the ground by Sentinel, resembling when IH died by Megatrons hands in the REAL TF movie

Less parents whom I HATED in the first two.

Sam in a more mature role, though, still immature at times, I liked how he was less scared.

ALOT more action. More dialogue amongst the Tf's

Not much of that douche Agent Reggie Simmons, a character I hate MUCH more than the parents.

I personally feel this is a better film, and probably the only one I will own of this trilogy.

It's almost a tie, but DOTM takes the cake. TF1 was an amazing movie, with really good characters, and I liked that there was a small cast of characters, but when I watched DOTM, I liked the good mix of all the things that made TF1 great mixed with ROTF's action, and with all the G1 and Star Trek references, how could I not pick DOTM ;P

I did, no question. All around a better movie, in every way.

As much as I love DOTM, nothing will outdo TFTM for me. It got me started on TFs, so it'll always hold a place in my heart.

    DotM better than TF1?

    Absolutely not.

TF1 had everything just about right. DotM had everything completely wrong.

DotM may have "more" battles and shit, but it's impossible for me to enjoy any of it with everything else being so f'd up. By the time the big action started, I had already had too much "WTF" moments to be able to like it.

    I'll take TF1 any day.

Well. TF1 had ALOT of ''F'd'' up things, so I don't see how thats a viable reason, but...To each his own.

The DOTM fight scenes were definitely superior to those in TFTM. The robot choreography in the Chicago fight scenes was outstanding

Please dont hate, but I highly preferred ROTF. That movie was damn FUN. DOTM seemed to me to be heading in that right direction until, you know, all the ppl complaining about the bit of light heartedness eventually influenced MBay's decisions... and so DOTM feels boring and stale. It had some awesome bits... dont get me wrong, but it felt 'off' (i.e formulaic), like some PR guy was telling MBay what he could n couldnt put in.

I kind of agree, ROFT was stupid at times but very fun and enjoyable. It did capture some of that from the first movie IMO. The 3rd did seem stale for me, but I still enjoyed it.

And I think once I see DotM in 2D it will probably seem more equal to TF1 ( because I agree TF1 holds something special to me too, as it is what got me started on tfs as well) but the 3D for DotM just added so much depth and made it easier to tell who was fighting who (something the first two had trouble doing) and I just think the emotion in DotM is alot stronger too, what with Q and Ironhide dying, Sam's reaction to the space shuttle getting blown up and the faint alarm in the background going, Sam almost witnessing bumblebee dying actually made me tear up, and just the whole invasion aspect of it was so much better than any other alien invasion movie I've ever seen it actually got it RIGHT (unlike ID4, WotW, Skyline, B:LA etc.) and I never felt any kind of emotional depth in the first one, however I didn't feel it really needed it.

You know, the plot in DOTM, which was based on a G1 ep, wasn't really that bad. It was pretty solid, albeit simple. I just think it's difficult to fit the events of this movie in after the clusterfuck that was ROTF.

ROTF was quiet entertaining up until the forest fight, after that it was downhill from there. DOTM is a cross of what made TF1 so enjoyable and what made ROTF entertaining the action scenes. So overall DOTM is the more satisfying of the 3, shame they messed up the ending of DOTM

Both are tied in my opinion.
