Honestly I'm shocked to say this but I actually would have liked to see Snyder's version.

Because to me, it sounded like things were changed in order to be "light-hearted".

Someone like Guilherme Del Toro would be interesting too.

Tommy Wiseu: No I take you to real Cybertron. We film there. Don't worry about it.

I've got to second the Del Toro suggestion on pure creative level (we'll get back to what I mean by that later in this post). He's a freaking master of high-concept genre fiction, his well-documented affection for non-human characters in his movies means he probably wouldn't relegate the Transformers to the sidelines like Bay and Spielberg did, and I think it's safe to say Pacific Rim proves he can bring giant robot fights to life spectacularly.

But here's where we get back to what I said about "on a pure creative level." From a behind the scenes perspective, I don't think he and Hasbro would get along well enough to bring the movie to life. We're talking about a man who would rather take budget cuts to caving to executive mandate, and Hasbro would probably want to take a hands on approach to make sure the film shills as much product as possible, so I'm a bit sceptical that Del Toro helming a heavily merchandise-driven franchise like Transformers would work out well enough for the movie to get made.

My other two choices would be James Gunn and Taika Watiti for their respective MCU work, but good luck getting them, since Gunn's still on board for the Guardians movies, and after Thor Ragnarok's success, Disney's probably not going to be shy about handing Watiti new projects, even if it's not a new Thor movie.

Eh, I never bought that he was a feminist, but his skill at making compelling and interesting villains- well that tells you something about him don't it. Part of why I would want him pared with another strong minded strong willed director that also writes.

Maybe Christopher Nolan. He is really good at creating suspense and complex characters I think the movies would benefit from.
