Who do you think voiced the best Barricade? Jess Harnell or Keith David? I would say Keith David because his voice of Barricade is more cool and threatening.

 

I love Keith David's voice as much as the next guy, but he wasn't as intimidating in the role as Jess Harnell.

 

Any role Keith David is in, he's amazing.

I agree. But he could've been more intimidating, he just wasn't as Barricade.

 

Was Keith David the one who voiced him in the video games? I wasn't impressed with him whatsoever, so I went with Jess Harnell. I tought his delivery of his 2(?) lines in the first encounter scene weren't bad. Granted there's a ton of effects thrown on top of it but I vastly prefer it to the monotone, bored sounding voice from the games.

Jess Harnell, without a doubt. His Barricade was much scarier and more intimidating than Keith David's. Plus, Keith David's voice is very iconic, and I feel like it would be best reserved for another character.

Loved Keith David's performance, but it's hard to compare it to Jess Harnell's seenig as the latter said three sentences in the movie, all in an interrogative manner.

 

If this were any other Keith David role, I'd agree. I remember being so disappointed that Keith was in the game, not the movie. And then I played the game. I could tell it was Keith David...the voice acting wasn't bad...but it wasn't the usual iconic quality I expected from him. When you're Keith David, "good" isn't good enough. I expected excellence, and instead I got a performance that was rather generic. It sounded like Keith David, all the lines were delivered competently, but the delivery was not special.

Jess Harnell only had like 3 lines, and he shouted them and had a lot of processing. Whether it's the processor or Jess's vocal chords, I would have to say Barricade's voice acting in the movie was more memorable. If Keith David had been hired to voice Barricade's 3 sentences in the actual movie, and if he took the role as seriously as anyone can take a role limited to 3 sentences, I'm sure he could have made Barricade even scarier than Jess did. As is, though, I gotta default to Jess' portrayal.

I will say something to Keith's credit, though. Due to the highly emotional delivery of Jess' lines, I can't imagine what Barricade talks like in actual conversation. When I read IDW's comics and Barricade speaks, I don't "hear" Jess' booming, shouting voice. We never got to hear Barricade's "indoor voice," but we have all heard decades of Keith David's voice in all sorts of tones. So although I prefer Jess' actual performance (as-is), I still believe somewhere in my mind that Keith David could have potentially given us an even better Barricade, as it's very easy to imagine Barricade speaking his comic-book lines in Keith's voice.

 

i'd say Jess, but that may be because I just don't like Keith David's voice because it's way too easily recognizable.

 

I loved both. David had the eviler voice, while Harnell provided the the "bounty hunter" intimidateing voice for the movie.

 

Keith David is one of my all time favorite voice actors. but sadly, I have to give it to Jess Harnel. Barricade just sounds better with Harnell's voice. Keith David's voice would sound good coming from any other Transformer, just not Barricade. He still did a good job in the video game though.

 

I like both Jess Harnell and Keith David, but I definitely like Harnell's voice better.

 

I love David Keith but like everyone else has said, it was way too much "Hi, this is David Keith". Harnell was great.

 

Jess, and hope to see his voice back for Barricade in TF3!!

 

I went with Jess Harnell, I know it was only 3 lines, but it would have scared me

I prefer David as Barricade - the man is a genious at voicing. He took Barricade to a new level above the movie AND the console games in the DS games. He took Barricade from being a generic grunt to a cool, calculating Decepticon. He does have his moments of emotion, and Keith David's Barricade voice is what I hear if he speaks in comics or something.

David miles above Harnell - but I bet if Harnell voiced Barricade more, he probably would've grown on me. But Harnell already is the best Ironhide since G1 and Rhinox in Beast Wars (I consider Rhinox the Ironhide of the Beast Wars), so he doesn't completely lose in my view.

 

Keith David sounded too much like a black guy trying to sound scary..

 

I clicked David by mistake instead of Harnell.

My vote should have went to harnell
