Tony Bacala's the owner. I'd guess he created it, but I don't know if I'd lock that in as a final answer.

TFW was a forum on some other boards and then became it's own site. Merged with some other places to become Transfandom and then became TFW again, has been for most of it's years. Tony Bacala is the man behind the curtain and started it all...

I never knew that this site was created by a single person.
I always imagined all of the mods built it together.

You know, like an Amish barn.

I'd be more curious to know who appoints the mods here.

So does the Tony.b have the final say on every final decision-making since he's the owner?

Tony Bacala (a board handle, not his real name) founded it in 2000. I think it was an old freebie site back then, started with a T ... forget the name. Anyways, it eventually merged with The Matrix Annex and Transformers News to become Transfandom, with TFW2005 and its 2005 Boards being the "board" of the site ("The 2005 Boards").

In 2003 creative differences between the administrators at Transfandom (Aerosurge, Stormrider, Tony Bacala) that failed to be resolved (Tony wanted more database type stuff and a text-heavy portion of the site, Aerosurge and Stormrider said "Ok we'll talk about it later" but later never came) and thus TFW2005 broke away from Transfandom and TFW2005.com was born.

As for a history of the Admins...

In 2001, I become a moderator of the ROBOTS IN DISGUISE forum. After the split, I became a Super Moderator. After the boards crashed and the new TFW2005 had to be completely redone, I was appointed an Administrator in 2002 (June 2002, according to my user profile here).

Joe Moore was actually a member of ADC who met then TFW2005 content guy J.E. Alvarez, who introduced him to Tony Bacala, and overtime Joe Moore (aka Professor Coldheart) became an Administrator and a very valuable commodity to this site.

Super_Megatron was this crazy Canadian feller who was involved in something called "TransformersCon" and "Canadian Toy Expo" ... he helped Tony, DESTRO, and J.E. Alvarez with Cybercon Expo and eventually joined the site staff and was then promoted to Administrator.

DeeFuzz, once upon a time Alpha Destron, was a longtime member of TFGen3.com (do not go there, porn now) which was founded by myself and ex-Admin Jux. DeeFuzz was a close friend of mine and after a few times of hanging out at shows, became a Mod and then a Super Mod. After the Rhode Island convention in 2007, DeeFuzz was promoted to Administrator and is one of the best people you can meet. So say hi to him and buy him beer.

Tim Formas (Super Mod) was one of the founders of Transformers News, which was one of the three websites that merged to form Transfandom. He was an Admin when TFW2005.com first broke off from Transfandom, but real-life hit Tim and the fool went out and got married and had a kid ... he's got free time again and the movie brought him back to the fold, thus Tim Formas is a Super Moderator.

Sol Fury (Super Mod) is this guy in the UK who has always been very knowledgeable and always helped out with content for the site. After the 2007 convention and spending time with him, we discovered he's a real chill cool guy and his love for this hobby and this site was well deserving ... and he was brought on as a Mod and quickly bumped up to Super Moderator, and I wouldn't be shocked to someday see him work his way up to Admin, and I don't think anyone on our staff would disagree with me.

Razerwire is always online (or was before he got married, bastard!) and always has a good eye for catching things. He was brought on as a Moderator and he proved he's got a good head on his shoulders and he's always online, a perfect candidate for Super Moderator! Thus he is.

REDLINE is our custom guru ... he's put more work in to the customs section of this site. I'd dare say the only reason our custom stuff is as good as it is would be because of REDLINE's dedication to it. Well deserving of his Super Mod status.

I know I'm forgetting people but I'm tired. We also have Primus, who is a LONG time vet of this board, while not an active "mod/admin/whatever", is still brought in for decision making steps with the site.

As for who makes the decisions for moderators/Super Moderators?

That would be Tony Bacala, Joe Moore, Super_Megatron, Tim Formas, Primus, DeeFuzz, and myself.

    EDIT:
    Fixed small misinformation.

    More or less.

It's pretty much a democracy (that works). Unless Tony is totally, 100% against something will he shun it and turn it away. But usually if two or three people are like "Hey, this is a good idea!" he looks in to it and sees if it 1) can be done and 2) if it will actually work with our system.

    Tony is one badass mofo.

EDIT: And he handles all the tech stuff. No one from the "outside" is brought in to fix server, do tweaking of the site/boards, etc.

Interesting History. Show's you how much Tony did a much better job than those other transfandom admins.

Just curious, what's the difference between a Mod and Super Mod?

psssst you forgot Streck, Soundwave.ca, and Wreckgar ;)

A mod is responsible for only certain forums in which they're assigned. a Super can deal with any forum on the board, and has more abilities.

For the record, I spend almost as much time dealing with the various galleries as I do the Radicons anymore. hehehe

For the record, both Kickback and REDLINE missed Boardwise.

I also notice Kicky has some ranks missed and such, but that's no big deal (or is it? The world may never know).

    Interesting history, actually.
