Which XBOX games should be backwards compatible for XBOX 360?

That is which titles that have not already been made able to be played on the 360 do you want to relive on the best system going?

Here's a list of all original XBOX games that can be played on the XBOX 360:

Pretty much, I mean, why settle for a hot dog with mustard when you can have a foot long chili dog with all the fixings?

    Capcom Fighting Jam/Evolution
    Capcom Vs SNK 2
    Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
    SVC Chaos SNK Vs Capcom

Probibly a lot more but that fact that not a single 2d Capcom Fighting game has made it so far pisses me off to no end.

I STILL don't understand why "all of them" isn't the default setting...not trying to flame. But can someone explain this to me?

Halo 2...oh wait...I guess I don't really have anything to contribute.

Seriously, I don't see what the big deal is. I never play games from generations past except when I get the urge for some nostalgia, meaning that it's no problem to bust out an old system and play some games on it before returning it to storage. Hell, I don't even play the games that are already out on it, save Halo 2, simply because 360 doesn't have a killer online game yet.

I mean, why eat an old stale piece of bread when there is a fresh loaf sitting right next to it?

    Mortal F*CKING Kombat - Deception.

    Arrrrgggh.

It was originally on the list, but then was taken off.

Using it on my 360 gets me a screen rather like the front cover of 'Dark side of The Moon.'

Because the switched from an nVidia GPU to an ATI one, they aren't "compatible" out of the box, so they need additional code to run the games that use the nVidia features.

Welcome to "off the shelf" component politics bullshit.

Ya, it's the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Since when do different video cards need different things for EVERY GODDAMNED PROGRAM!:Gouki:
Never have I installed a PC game and been asked what video card I use so it could install the right components. If there is any difference between the code needed for the 360 and original then the emulation should make EVERY game work, or at least the grand majority. Have yet to see a cedible reason they need to be done individually.

It's not just the GPU. Microsoft also switched from an Intel Pentium chip to an IBM Power PC Xenon chip. That's a completely different CPU architecture, one normally used by PCs, and one used until recently in Macintoshes. One is little-endian and one is big-endian. You've got to work out a lot of cutom tweaks, tricks, and hacks to run code from one on the other without emulating the entire Pentium architecture, which would make the games run too slowly. They have to figure out which emulation "shortcuts" work for each game. Some people call this "high level" emulation, because it doesn't emulate everything exactly down to the lowest level. This is exactly how UltraHLE ran N64 games on a 100Mhz Pentium back in the '90s, and it too needed custom hacks and tweaks for each game it was able to run.

BP3k: Games that get stale after only a couple of years are pretty lousy games. Also, a lot of people passed on the original Xbox and still don't want to buy one now because it only had a tiny selection of games they actually wanted. These people would really like to be able to add that tiny handful of games to the presently smallish collection of available 360 games they want and make an awesome library out of the two sets.

    Apples and oranges.

PC OSes have HALs, Device Drivers, APIs and all sorts of other mojo to make the same software work on infinate combinations of hardware because that it what is required.

Games consoles and thier software are created to do one thing on one platform in one configeration, which is how they can turn in the sort of performance they do with the hardware they have.

Isn't it simply that the 360 runs an Xbox emulator for backwards compatability? And they have to code it for each game which takes time?

Yep. Like flamepanther was saying, they can't emulate a whole X-Box on a 360 so they have to do it the nasty way by doing as little as possible for each game and hacking it together.

And yea, things takes its time when making emulations and patches for different architectures.

Another two games, although more specifically for Xbox Live, Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct Gold. It would be great if those games were available for download.
