So I was watching "The Rebirth" for the first time (shut up, I'm a G1 novice :dunce ), and I got to thinking. Bonding themselves with a Nebulan would be a serious choice for a Transformer, and not likely to be one that they'd take lightly. With Headmasters, your head is removed and you're relegated to remaining in alt-mode without it. Targetmasters, on the other hand, remain intact but gain a significant boost in firepower, with the potential disadvantage of a sentient firearm. Thus we get to my question:

If you were a Transformer, which would you choose to become, a Headmaster or a Targetmaster?

Personally, I would agree with Cyclonus about not wanting to loose my head. Plus the added firepower would be useful to have while fighting a war.

Targetmaster without question. I wouldn't want to be stuck in vehicle mode if my head rebelled, or died.

Targetmaster. It seems like one could always pick up a new gun. Head\power master are a little more committed.

    Targetmaster definitely.

Though as a toy concept, Headmasters are cooler.

Definitely Targetmaster. I would've been very upset had Hot Rod, Kup, and Blurr become Headmasters. They were some of my favorite characters, and I wouldn't have wanted to see them befowled by becoming Headmasters.

I think the concept of Headmasters to be very stupid so I obviously chose Targetmaster. I do rather like the concept of a Targetmaster.

targetmaster just because it would suck to loose your head and have to walk around headless or stuck in vehical mode because your head goes missing.. i have a couple headmasters toys without heads and have to keep them in vehical mode and don't transform them into robot mode anymore just becaause they look lame without a head..

I guess it would all depend on my role, if I were a front line fighter I would want the better weapon, if I were a tactician or a group commander then I guess I would want the headmaster treatment.

When I was younger, I always thought the idea being bonded to a Transformer either through a head, gun, or engine was cool. Especially since the Transformers were able to fight more better with a humanoid partner.

Targetmaster, definitely. A rebellious partner would be much more difficult to deal with if they're your head. I've always found the Headmaster concept kind of bizarre anyway.

I voted targetmaster. but if we're talking Japanese Headmasters cartoon here, I'd go with headmaster. I'd be a little guy that could drive his own car, then merge with it and become bigger! Nothing is more awesome than that.

target master. simply becuase its more practical, the minicon (yes retconing) could go and do some spy missions and you wait for it to come back. likewise the extra set of eyes would be more useful on the battle field. now the double target masters, they were something, you could dual weild, OR have a Super Weapon (maybe BFG?).

i'd like to have a triple changer for a targetmaster partner, sorta like Roll Out. he had a vehicle mode and a gun mode. and Over-Run too.

I never liked the whole master stuff. If I had to pick, targetmaster. And I want it to be a little robot, not some ugly alien in a mech suit.
