tis a good question. which reality do you want to use? fortress maximus had different sizes. the rebirth episodes showed him to be not much bigger than a combiner. i don't know how the comics or japanese shows portrayed him. then there's RiD which makes him nicely huge. i think the SDF-1 would be larger no matter what though. it was only the size of an island right?

The Macross, definitely. Well, maybe not definitely, but I think so. Fort Max is smaller (depending on which source you go by) than Metroplex. Metroplex vs. Macross would probably be closer.

Yeah, that's so variable. The comics, Rebirth, and / or Headmasters all showed him as definitively smaller than something the size of the SDF-1.

Even if he's really an Autobot city, I think he'd be smaller than the SDF-1. Maybe if you took him to be the size of that badass BotCon entry, then he'd be the bigger one.

But he could kick SDF-1's ass no matter what :D

I believe the biggest fictional depiction of him (or at least a different version of him) would be RID Fort Max, who, according to his japanese toy bio card, is 350 meters tall (1,148 feet).

The SDF-1 is WAY larger than that - I believe its over a kilometer in height.

Both versions are supposed to be around 1.2km long in ship configeration IIRC, which probably goes up or down in attack mode depending on what position the main gun is in.

    SDF-1, definately.

A more appropriate scaling would be something like the Gunbuster against Fort Max - and the Gunbuster is only 200 metres tall. I think the Buster Machines could probably launch quite comfortably off of the SDF-1's aircraft carrier arm, I'm not so confident with Fort Max in that regard.
