    Allspark.

    Clean, simple and uncomplicated.

However, it would please me greatly if TF3 had no such plot device. Things got a little too clunky for my tastes in ROTF.

I think The AllSpark, since there was so much ado about it throughout the course of the first movie and then, all of a sudden, it's gone. Some tossaway explanations were given and allusions to its "power" were made and then whoop, Megatron gets killed because of it.

From what I can remember of ROTF, the Matrix was so underplayed that it kinda seemed more like a convenient thing to have nearby, should the Decepticons show up, than a "gotta have it" McGuffin.

allspark explained why they came too earth in TF1 i like it...

I love the matrix but not the way they went with it...it should have been in Prime for ROTF and when megs killed prime he takes it...and the lil shard sam had from his kitchen is what they use to revive optimus...my point is the matrix belongs to optimus the back story of it being passed down from leader to leader is so good and they fucked that up..

but hopefully no more macguffins in TF3

I said AllSpark because I don't like how they handled the Matrix. It is powerful and life giving but it so much more than a power-up box. They should have made it the end all "I Win" button to defeat an overwhelming enemy that's not even Transformer

    The Allspark.

For some reason, it just seemed much more significant and important than the Matrix of Leadership did.

    I go with Allspark.
Much more of a God Box.

The thing in ROTF was a key of some sort.
The use of the term "Matrix of Leadership" didn't make any sense.
I don't see what it had to do, if anything, with leadership.

They should have used a different term to describe it.
I personally would have gone with Continuim Transfunctioner.
"A very mysterious & powerful device whose mystery is exceded only by its power"

I still consider the Allspark shards a McGuffin in the first half of ROTF, but I think it would've been more effective had there just been one shard instead of two (this was implied at the end of Movie 1 when Prime pulled it out of Megatron). I'm sure something else could've been used to awaken Jetfire.

    Deffinately the Allspark.

I never liked the Matrix. It always seemed useless and hammy, wheras the Allspark was quite clear: object of power grants life, the end. The Matrix in the movie, as a key, was alright, but I like the Allspark better.

I think it's cool when toys incorporate the Matrix, though, and the movie's Matrix design was awesome.

    Allspark ftw!

the matrix was kinda forced in....but the Allspark was to replace the matrix in the first place. It's also gave hasbro a crap-load of repaint ideas.

I kinda agree with ya there (I fully agree with ya's on the design of the Matrix). Most likely, the only mention we'll get of the Allspark is maybe Optimus wonders if having it destroyed was such a good idea or not. The Matrix was simply "a legendary key", as Jetfire put it, to bring Primes back to life and power the Sun Harvester. However, I'm hoping TF3 expands on the Matrix a bit more, like it contained some sort of knowledge that Optimus, and ONLY Optimus, can unlock.

I think I'll wait for TF3 before I make a judgment call here. The Allspark served its purpose in the films, but there's the possibility that they develop the Matrix a bit more.

    The Cube was awe inspiring.

The Matrix was randomly named after the original and its nature as a key to powering the Cube and as another gateway to the AllSpark that allowed Optimus' spark to return his body was not made clear at all.
