I liked RID's packaging. It takes up about as much space as today's cards, but it looked bigger.

    For me:

    Best package art: Beast Wars
Worst package art: None are really all THAT bad, but I found Robots in Disguise a bit bland in colors. Just me though.

G1 will forever have the best box art IMO.

I'm not really sold on the PCCs or HFTD packaging. PCCs looks too messy and doesn't seem to catch the eye at a distance. HFTD...it just looks a bit odd to see TFs in bright yellow boxes.

Heh, not sure really, I get them out of their packages so fast, I don't look at them long enough.

Only very recently have I started to at least save the character cards with tech specs and stuff, at least until they take too much space.

But to answer something, I have to admit that as much as I like animated, the boxes weren't very flashy... but maybe it was inevitable because of the show's art style. The latest lines have very cool boxart (Generations, PCC, Universe and Movie) I mostly mean the character art, as I'm an illustrator myself and i tend to notice that kind of stuff.

Best: G1 (I love the red/purple grid motif, it seems like they put a lot more effort into the packaging back then)

Worst: Armada (Strangely shaped Deluxe packaging, extremely bland colors, even in 2003 I thought the packaging looked bad)

    Same as everyone else:

G1 is the best and always will be. The movie lines boxes are a little boring, I think. Universe's slack-jawed expressions do nothing for me, too.

Personally, I'm a big fan of G1's box art, but in general, Transformers has always had strong packaging, iMO. Even Rid's was halfway decent.

I think the WORST has to be Beast Machines, which completely ditched individual card art completely and the few that did get an illustrated character bit was just reused models from the cartoon (which often didn't match up to the toys all that well).
While Powercore doesn't have package art, there really isn't enough space for it, the Beast Machines packaging had more than enough room for something.

Best: Hands down it's Animated. I remember seeing the early images of the TV show and was just disgusted with it...and then I saw the end cap of Transformers Animated toys at Wal-Mart. Needless to say it became my favorite series.

Worst: None are all that bad, but if I had to put something in last place it'd probably be Energon or Cybertron because I just wasn't that interested in them. But again, it wasn't even that bad.

    Animated had amazing packaging.
G1, on the other hand, looked pretty meh. Beast Wars was just obnoxious.

Best would be G1. Definitely. The Beast Wars Transmetals packaging was nice also. And sovwere the Japanese book style reissues.

    Worst would be RID

I love, and hated, cybertron. I like the art. I hate the box. because of how it is not a "box", when you flatten the box for storage it looks like crap.
