With the transformers prime line slowly approaching I have found myself in a bit of a pickle. I am having trouble deciding which Starscream to get. What's really important to me is getting the one that is most size accurate to the other toys. While Voyager Starscream appears to be screen accurate weapon wise I'm worried he.s going to be huger than he should be? Can someone help me out please?
I'll be getting the Voyager. The Voyagers seem to be running a little smaller nowadays anyway, and he transforms into a JET. If you're planning on getting Deluxe Arcee/Bumblebee, etc then I think Voyager SS is even more so the way to go. I just hope a Voyager Megs is coming too.
I'd agree, voyager starscream seems better, and he has the light-up weapon thingy, and in the series he's much taller than the other autobots, so I'd go with the voyager
The deluxe does look like a fantastic representation, but I would wait until we get some decent pictures of the voyager compared with the rest of the figures.
i would rather have the voyager. but honestly, the deluxe just looks like such a nice figure, and i want prime toys.. NOW! so ill probably end up getting both. and thats something i never do, two of the same character in the same line. might do the same with cliff jumper too.
I'm getting both, regardless. One can be displayed with the Prime cast, the other can go on my Starscream shelf.
Good question. For certain characters, I prefer the sizes / classes to match the show. I'll be getting voyager SS. I think SS SHOULD be bigger than the main characters. He was the commander of the Decepticon armada! Ha!
There was a thread on this exact subject days ago. Even though he's shorter than both Prime and Bulkhead on screen? He's supposed to be smaller, it's part of his character. He's lowly, cowardly, scheming.
Yea, I know. We love his sneeky gestures! The back hump is pretty fun... But if he's a jet (the G1 fanboy within thinks) he should be bigger than a car, right? Plus he is one of the more powerful Cons... If we get Breakdown, and if his figure is a Deluxe, that's where my fear is at... Time will tell. For now we get a choice with SS!
The show laughs at this. He comes up to about Megatron's stomach, and Megatron is only a bit taller than Prime. Also he's far from one of the most powerful 'Cons. He gets his ass handed to him by everyone. The only time he got a leg up was when he stabbed Arcee (that was awesome) and beat her while she was weakened, and she still kicked his ass.
This genius is doing the same thing I intend to. And the Cyberverse one will go in a Prime Cyberverse display next to my Bayverse Cyberverse display. If you only want one and scale is the determining factor for you, I have to say wait if/until a Voyager Megatron is confirmed and go from there.
For the first time ever, I think the smaller Deluxe version actually might be the most scale accurate one. The Voyager *should be* the one most of us want, but as I said before, it might look grossly oversized if it's the same height as Prime and/or towers over other Cons like Soundwave.... who, as far as we know so far, will only be a Deluxe. If they release a Voyager Soundwave and Leader Megatron, then the Voyager version of Starscream would definitely look best.
I think it depends on personal preference in Starscream's case. They are both very good representions of the character in thier own right. On one hand while the Deluxe version's jet mode looks silly the robot mode looks great! On the other hand the Voyager version's robot mode looks great and the jet even better looking! I'm going to get both for proper comparisons but getting one over the other is good too!
I intended to only buy the voyage because a plane should not be smaller than a car. But I ordered a group of Arcee, Cliff, R2-Bee2, and deluxe Starscream because I wanted the first three for the price per figure. So I'll be getting the deluxe. I'm unsure if I'll get the voyage or not yet. As for scale on the show, check out this thread for people dissecting the show: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-prime-discussion/480096-transformers-prime-scale-chart.html The end result is this chart:
Go for the deluxe if you want scale. Again, alt mode scale is so screwed up in Transformers anyway so you may as well not even bother.
