I'm in the mood to re-watch something I have on DVD. Please help me decide:

    1. Japanese Headmasters
    2. Transformers Prime
    3. Transformers Animated

...a "why" would be cool too. Thanks!

Animated. Despite the show not being one of my favorites (it's still a good show, but it wasn't made for people like me), it's the best of all three of those shows. Headmasters was worse than the Rebirth. Why? Despite the Rebirth being so short it was devoid of giving it's new roster any personalities, it didn't come off as big of a joke as Headmasters did.
As for Prime, it's one of the worse "shows" ever made. I suggest you not rewatch it under any circumstances, even boredom.

No, not at all. There are numerous problems I have with Prime, such as the lack of individualism, good characterization, good plot-lines, and the numerous unresolved plots. If you want, I could go in depth, but that would take a few paragraphs.

Agreed. I seen to recall we were told there would be a decepticon defecting to the autobots in season 2 or 3. It was clearly going to be dreadwing. Except it wasn't. And no-one did. That really disappointed me

Animated, because its always cool to watch the character growth and how something minor can lead to bigger events.

Animated. It's slow at first, but it gets funnier and better.
Only thing I don't like about Animated is the human side. Protagonists are ok at most, and the villains..... absolutely atrocious. Too annoying for my liking.

If you're going to rewatch any JP sequel it should be Masterforce and Prime has too much mediocrity weighing against it's good parts, so I'd default to Animated. It definitely has the most to offer of the three you have IMO.

Agreed. Human villains are cringingly bad but they really portray the Transformers very well. Apart from Soundwave who is an abomination.

That said, I recently rewatched Prime and Seasons 1 and 2 of RID and enjoyed them all. Miko and Raf aren't too annoying, though I hate the kid know all cliche though he's not obnoxious like the Rescue Bots kid.

Not a fan of boring, tough but nice guy Bulkhead but I love Smokescreen.

If I had to recommend one of those three, it would grudgingly be Animated...grudgingly, because of everything others have stated. Trying to turn the Autobots into superheroes by having them go up against literal comic book supervillains straight from the Silver Age was a mistake, and a misunderstanding of the quasi-superhero trappings of the Sunbow cartoon. Avoid the supervillain episodes, and the series becomes great.

My vote is definitely for Prime. But there's a lot of Animated fans here who would definitely say that series. I guess it depends if you're more of a Prime person or Animated person.

Prime or Animated. I liked them both, but they're very different. I will say that Animated had my favorite Autobot team, but my least favorite Decepticon team (not counting the almost unwatchable series like Cybertron or Energon).
