Never got into Animated, while Prime was the first TF show I actually watched everything on.

Edit: oh, and Prime is what got me back into TF.

You really should give Animated a shot. If you liked Beast Wars, you'll like Animated.

Not necessarily. I absolutely loved Beast Wars/Machines, but I was never able to get into Animated. I've tried to watch several episodes, but I just don't find it that entertaining. I could never get past the animation/character designs.

That's what I hear. Maybe some day if it's on Netflix or Hulu I'll give it full watch.

Netflix is taking all Transformers shows off; Animated will never be on a streaming service. The Complete Series DVD set should still be available for a decent price, but I agree that streaming services are just more convenient.

Doesn't that have tons of ads, though?

It came preinstalled on my Android TV, and you only get about a minute or two of ads per episode. Not sure about other mediums such as the website or app, though.

Animated was a great show, and I liked it, but I never could get bring myself to love it. I loved Transformers Prime. It had its flaws to be sure, but the characters were well-developed, the animation was stellar, the designs were my favorite of any TF series, and as others have pointed out, it took itself seriously when it needed to.

Well... you’re entitled to your opinion... but have you watched Energon? Or the Machinima series? Because if you have, I honestly do not see how you could arrive at that conclusion.

I just watched the first three episodes of Animated (the three-parter), and I loved it! I tried watching the first episode a few years back, and I couldn't get into it at the time. I'm really not sure why.

I think these episodes were really smart and well-done. I actually laughed multiple times, there was a lot of really clever situational humor. They really take advantage of the difference between the two species (Cybertronians and humans), but it doesn't make the Autobots look dumb or ignorant. If the rest of the show keeps the same level of quality (or improves), I could see this becoming my favorite modern Transformers show (I'll always have a soft spot for G1 though).

How does it compare with Prime? Well, recently I tried rewatching some of the early Prime episodes, and I didn't think it really held up. Prime was kind of tone-deaf. It's like they wanted to be a darker, 'cooler' Transformers show, but they were afraid to break away from the typical tropes. We go from Cliffjumper dying violently and being resurrected as a zombie, to the Autobots helping kids with school projects over the course of only a few episodes. It's certainly possible to balance dark stuff and lighthearted stuff, but I don't feel like Prime really did it well. I do like the cinematic style of Prime, but I feel like the highly stylized designs kind of clashed with that. Animated seems to know what it is better, it completely owns it's tone and style. (I actually think the same is true of RID 2015, hence why I probably prefer it).

I do think Prime has plenty of good things about it, but I wouldn't really describe it as smart or clever. I can definitely see the Orci/Kurtzman influence. It's all about being dynamic, "the rule of cool" comes before anything else (similar to the Bayverse, or the new Star Treks). Overall it's hard to say which show I prefer since I'm still very new to Animated, but TFA has definitely had a stronger start for me. I'll pop in here occasionally, and let you know where I stand.

PS: I already love Animated a million times more than Cyberverse. The professional voice acting is so much easier on the ears, and the majority of the humor actually lands. Still hoping Cyberverse smooths out it's rough edges for the second season though.

Hmm. I love both of course, but I’d have to say Prime. Maybe it’s because it was my first ever Transformers, but Prime always kept me on the edge of my seat.

    Prime. Animated is so overhyped.

No, it's just my opinion that TFAnimated is overhyped, plus I hated pretty much all the characters personalities.
