    I just finished rewatching Prime. It's without question my favorite Transformers series since the end of the Beast era. I know that there's a large number of Transformers fans that consider Animated to be their favorite Transformers series, post Beast era. I was never able to into Animated though. I think it's mostly the animation and character designs. I mean say what you will about Prime's stories/writing, I think it has to be hands down the best animation featured in a Transformers series. But even animation aside, I really enjoyed Prime's story(ies). Furthermore, I think Prime had the best vocal cast featured in a Transformers series. But enough about I feel. How about you?

    P.S. I know that this conversation has been had before. But as far as I could see, it's been a while.

    Prime was good but i couldn't get into animated simply just wasn't for me. I'm happy that the others liked it cause that is why we are still getting some form of cartoon still.

    I like Prime better simply just because the character design and the faux-hype behind every single episode.

    Animated has a lot more depth. Prime was good and fun but a little shallow. Just really hammy I guess.

    Animated = OG Teen Titans

    Prime = The Walking Dead

    For me it is Prime although not a perfect show it gave me a lot to enjoy although it did let me down at times. But the animation was amazing. Gave us Peter Cullen and Frank Welker being Optimus and Megatron again and say what you want about the boring Optimus in the show I enjoyed him of course. A great Ratchet and Starscream. Plenty of action. Animated I did not like at all and hated at times but it has warmed on me a little because of how bad RID15 and medicore Cyberverse is.

    Animated felt kinda slow and didn't take itself as seriously as prime.

    Animated felt a lot less repetitive and boring than Prime. In episodes and plot sure, but also with the risks Animated took. Essentially, everything you know was thrown out and changed, and most of it worked out for the better. Compare that to Prime, where it's more-or-less characters and settings we've seen before. I'm sure some people would find that more appealing, but I think Animated was much more fun and interesting. Also, the storytelling and character work was done much better in Animated than it was in Prime. Again, Prime felt repetitive with its stories while Animated most certainly was different and unique. These qualities elevate Animated over Prime by far, in my opinion.

    Hence why Animated is getting my vote.

    Indeed. It was far superior in those regards. TFA actually had pacing and build-up and wasn't completely up its own ass.

    Animated. It was consistent, used great animation, had a sense of humor that didn't make me cringe, and invented some of the few new characters that the fandom has accepted as being unique and well-written enough to be embraced as classic characters, like with BW and G1 (Lugnut, Lockdown, Bulkhead). I wasn't a huge fan of the way the stylization translated into toys (I have RTS Lugnut and Lockdown who are two of my all-time favorites) but it stands as the only TF show that's come out in my adult life that I can actually remember plot details from. Prime was good for a season and Knockout and Breakdown were great, but it just wasn't all that memorable...I hate to say I remember almost nothing post season one.

    Animated a trillion times over TFP.

    Optimus Prime with an actual personality. The Decepticons being legit challenges that Prime's team had to improve to overcome them. Actual character growth and story arches that were meaningful. That series was the Beast Wars of the 2000's.

    Animated for me. On hindsight it comes off a bit like Adventure Time and others where there's a lighthearted, even goofy surface veneer, with depth, world-building, and darkness slowly piling up behind the scenes.

    I liked Prime initially as something movieverse-like with much of the stupidity removed, but it didn't help by starting off with an "anything can go down!" message, then dropping into status-quo maintenance and thing hunts. I could see someone producing a re-edited version of the full series, making the pace snappier and trimming off the filler and inconsequential stuff.

    Now see for me, Prime has always been the series that reminds me more of Beast Wars/Machines.

    Prime was alright. Coming off the end of Animated, I wanted to love it. It was cool at first, story o.k. animation awesome.

    But it became unbearable when they started the Beast thing, which apparently killed the line also. :eek:

    I can't help but think I'm the only one that have that feels. o_O

    Animated: The Godfather 1-2

    Prime: The Godfather 3

    Prime was a wannabe Animated that tried to look more mature but failed. :p

    Season 1 of Prime had a lot of promise and momentum and then lost it with Season 2's endless macguffin hunt, got some of momentum back with Season 3 but then ruined that by forcing the Predacons in. Animated on the other hand was enjoyable from beginning to end.

    Animated. Once you get past the dynamic art style, its deep story developing and the unique take of Prime as a failure rookie instead of an already-established figurehead everybody respects provided a great point for a story about how the great war was actually very shades of gray and the Autobots as a whole...were not as clear cut good guys as they traditionally are. The Decepticons also were expertly depicted as being significantly stronger and the use of human villains to help the Autobots grow as a force without having to make the Decepticons look weak over time preserved their status. And Megatron NEVER showed up unless it was to utterly destroy some Autobots - even in the final battle, he only BARELY is outlasted by the significantly upgraded Optimus.

    Prime started strong and quickly lost its drive. Repetitive thing hunts, a status quo where the Autobots CONSISTENTLY were on top and the plot rarely ever threw the Decepticons a bone that lasted, Airachnid is TRASH, and Arcee was a total liability to the Autobots. It also was plagued with problems behind the scenes with clashing directorial vision and budget overruns that ruined Aligned.

    Animated got me back into Transformers. They got me with nostalgia, as it reminded me of the saturday cartoons i watched as a kid.

    All the characters felt unique and the story was good (i like the comparison with Adventure Time, were the style is totally childish, but the character development has some real depth). I felt really sad when the show ended :(

    Never got hooked on Prime. I don't think i even finished S1.
