With age Peter Cullen's voice for Optimus has changed. Though, it has been subtle, you can tell his voice is a little deeper and in my opinion sounds better

His older voice, when done right. i.e, when it's not the way Prime Optimus Prime speaks the majority of the time.

Both. The man does no wrong. Plus think of it as Optimus' evolution. He's grown older with all his MANY fans.

Younger. He gave Optimus character back then. Now he goes through the motions and makes OP seem like a walking statue.

Besides there is no way I could ever choose. As long as it's THAT voice, it's pure love!

Everything except for the direction in TFP. A bunch of the time, Optimus sounds like he's giving a speech or monolouge whenever he's talking in that series, which doesn't happen so much in the movies and not at all in G1.

I liked both versions. Mr Cullen was years younger when he did the Generation 1 role of Optimus Prime. The Gentleman can do no wrong as far as I am concerned

I'd have to go with G1. It's the voice of my childhood and it still gives me chills when I hear it. I also love what he did with Ironhide's voice (G1) with his drawl. Peter Cullen in general reminds me of King Midas, he could turn anything into gold. Failure isn't possible with that guy xxxx

I love his Prime voice in the Movies and in Prime. So much more regal-sounding. But I also love his younger, G1 Prime voice.

Younger G1 easily. When I hear Peter Cullen in recent interviews he sounds like he's totally capable of doing the young G1 Prime voice too, or at least get closer to that than what he's been doing.

Yeah. If anything, I like the progression he's made with the character instead of really wanting to pick one or the other.

Here's what I think of each of Prime's voice actors.

Peter Cullen = Wise Optimus Prime. The older the better = Prime is one his best.
Gary Chalk & Neil Kaplan = Relaxed, not so strict Optimus.
David Kaye = The young Optimus.

To me there isn't so much difference in the voice, as the direction he is given.

I couldn't agree more with this, he was great in DOTM, especially during Optimus and Sentinel's brief fight in D.C.

I prefer the younger G1 version, it seemed like it had more variety and life to it and it also seemed effortless as well, the newer versions in Prime and the movieverse sound somewhat bland and forced, as if you feel he's trying too hard to turn on the magic! It's exactly the same way I feel about Kevin Conroy post Batman TAS!

But then again both actors have been voicing these characters for over 20 years, they've aged, something was bound to give!
