Tragic? G1 mostly cuz I saw it as a kid and had no idea Transformers could die. You can imagine how I felt when Optimus went down.

    Brutal? Movie for sure.

No the G1 was more tragic because he had so much screen time. He was a well respected character and easily killed.

Bayverse Ironhide had less character time than any given character in Predator across 3 movies. There was really nothing attached to the character. He was just a vehicle for Baysplosions.

G1 Ironhide had two seasons for the viewers to get to know him. he may not have been that well rounded, but he had an established personality. He gave it everything he had but it was ultimately futile. That's more brutal to me than any amount of on screen violence.

    G1..and heres why..

i.hide knowing he was going to die or is dying, crawls over to megs and says NO!!...fighting with eveything left in his depleting spark..and megs being the badass that he is without a second thought looks down at him points his f.cannon at him and drops probally the second best one liner in any movie IMO(both being from this movie i might add) and declares.. "Such heroic nonsence" and shoots him in the face while looking him straight in the eye..at that time it wasnt common for cartoons or any movie w/ a PG rating to show such brutality...this was what i wanted transformers to be all along...this was the first time i saw REAL WAR on any scale on any cartoon...it really got the message across from the jump...this is war and it aint gonna be pretty..plus iron hide was way more involved in the G1 series then he was in any of the movies..i felt way more connection to him then the movieverse ver...:2c:

Movie Ironhide was in all of the films for around 15 minutes. G1 Ironhide was in G1 for at least ten times that.

    This.

I like Movie Ironhide, but there is no way he better then G1. G1 Ironhide is iconic; whereas Movie Ironhide is just another tough guy.

Movie. And it still is to me the most tragic and brutal death scene in Transformers history. I think so because apparently its not every day you see a Transformer melt so quickly and so painfully like that. It still shocks me to this very day.

You mean like G1 Ironhide was? And plus, Movie Ironhide isn't just a tough guy. You can tell by many of his lines that for how old he is, unlike Prime or Ratchet, he's just as light hearted and snarky as many of the younger bots like Sideswipe. You can also see some subtle development in how he seems to have grown on humans over the course of three films, even taking orders from Lennox in DOTM. He's also a very likeable character, that's exactly why people were so upset that he died.

What do you want? Brutal or tragic?

I think the Bayformers version was more brutal. Tragic, not too sure...

Of course it was more tragic. Being downed by your own comrade from behind with no dignity is a much bigger tragedy than being gunned down in battle like a soldier would expect.

I don't totally buy this. Movie Ironhide was kind of one-note. Not a bad thing in and of itself in an ensemble movie, but a lot of the time he just sort of seemed there, like a prop or something.

Again we run into the pitfalls of shows vs films. G1 Ironhide comes across better because he gets at least one episode where he was in the limelight (ironically it was the first episode we meet Carley) and had plenty of presence if only by volume of his voice. But he had 40+ potential hours to do it, his movie counterpart had five; none of which I felt were utilised to their full potential.

Dude, you're reaching now. Seriously, it's like saying you can tell Boba Fett grew as a character by his subtle development between Empire and Jedi.
