I just picked up Leader Starscream (woo Target sale!) and I was thinking of picking up a leader Prime to go with him. I know there's Buster Prime and probly another japanese version, but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money. I was going to hit a few more Targets today looking for the HftD Prime, but I was looking on ebay and it looks like you can get the RotF one for right around original retail, so if I can't find the new one, I might do that.

So in your opinion, which of the two is better and why? They're the same mold with minor retoolings, right? Does the new version have fixes or is it just the hooks and a new head? And does the new version still combine with Jetfire (I might pick him up later).

Thanks for your input, guys. =)

I'm not big on the hooks, I got RotF Optimus and I like 'em, a pain to transform, but looks awesome. I am thinking of getting rid of the swords, though.

EDIT: Yes, I believe the HftD one should combine with Jetfire as well.

ROTF. No crappy battle damage and has the swords he used in both movies instead of the hooks he used in one scene.

    Ebay:
yup. I could get behind the hooks but the battle damage is just too poorly done.

I think ROTF might be a little bit better, but HFTD is nice. I got that one since the original wasn't available anymore. He looks OK, I added small silver details on his face (on his burned "cheek") and he looks pretty cool.

    Ebay:
    quick question:

can you take the hooks off a junker HftD Prime and put them on the RotF Prime- if you really liked the hooks?

still, i am content with my RotF Prime. he looks good.

    Ebay:
I'd pick ROTF. The HFTD has strange oil stain paint apps, and "battle damage".

Wow, this thread's still kickin! I did see the first few responses before I went out today, but didn't think people would still be posting!

I managed to find HftD Prime at a Target for a really good price today, so I'm set. I may watch eBay for broken/cheap ROTF primes to swap the head and/or hooks out, but I'm good for now.

    Thanks for the input guys!
