If you absolutly had to choose between the two, which mode is most important to you in a Taransformers toy, the robot mode or the alternate mode. Feel free to factor in things like realism, functionability, and any other things you feel influence the decision.

Robot mode but I'll often change things up a bit by transforming some of them to vehicles. They don't last too long in the latter form lol.

Robot mode, but the vehicle needs to be fun.

Robot mode for sure. Probably 99 out of 100 would say the same. Transformers is about the robots afterall. Take the PRID Airachnid for example. She has a very nice helicopter in alt mode but most people still hate the toy because robot mode is garbage.

Robot mode - I display all my figures this way. Still, vehicle mode has to be nice too.

Robot mode. If you have to compromise what would otherwise be a great-looking robot for the sake of shoe-horning an alt mode, then it's probably not worth it.

Vehicle mode, since half of my collection (Alts and HA) is all about the vehicle mode

Robot. I buy Transformers for the robots and characters. That isn't to say I don't care about the alt mode, but I've made concessions before regarding them (RTS/United Perceptor).

Robot mode for me. I would allocate 70% robot mode and 30% alternate mode...case in point would be MP-10 Optimus. His cab mode without the trailer is pretty bad IMO but his robot mode more than makes up for it.

Alternate mode. A Transformer loses a lot of it's appeal if it doesn't turn into something decent. I'm more willing to forgive a robot for having a big, doofy hunk of useless kibble than I am of a vehicle/beast/whathaveyou having one. Plus, there's something magical about a realistic-looking object being able to unfurl into a robot.
Now, of course, if a robot takes too many hits for it's alt mode then I have a problem.

Despite the above, I do like Kreons, who's alts (if they even have any) really aren't that great. Though they're not mainline so I guess they don't count.

Everyone considers both important, I'd imagine.

Robot mode. It's gotta look like the character, even if it has a fantastic vehicle mode.

Robot mode. 80-90% of my collection is displayed in robot mode. Pretty much only if the bot mode sucks and alt mode is more accurate my figures are in robot mode.

    I'd say robot mode.

Few figures I prefer in alternative mode.

Of my 363 figures on display only 31 are not in robot mode.

Robot mode, that's the mode I have them displayed in, but I do transform them to their alt mode from time to time. If the alt mode is crappy, it's pointless for me to buy the figure.

So with me, it's: Decent robot + decent alt = purchase, Decent robot + crappy alt = no sale

I prefer an accurate looking, fun to play with bot mode over alt mode, as I display everything in robot mode. But I do enjoy the alt mode being color accurate if at all possible.. But if the bot mode has to suffer in order for the alt mode to function, I'm not that prone to buying it.
