If I were to compare the Go-Bots to the G1 cartoon...It's hard to decided, I mean the G1 cartoon had episodes where the animation style would blow the pants off of Go-Bots. But then there's something to say about Go-Bots as the animation style was ALWAYS consistent
Hmm... Go-Bots didn't have any mistakes in its animation as did Transformers. But given the choice between Go-Bots and Transformers, I'd take Transformers over Go-Bots anyday.
gobots are to transformers what sam's choice cola is to coke:same basic idea, but one is seriously lacking in quality. voltron,on the other hand,is to power rangers what coke is to coke.
Overall, I would say Transformers was animated better, but there were certain episodes of G1 where the quality of the animation was far worse than anything the Gobots ever did. It may not be directly related to animation, but the one thing about the Gobots I couldn't stand was the way the vehicle modes would have clearly exposed robot faces (with blinking eyes!). I mean Cy-Kill's motorcycle mode just looked like the robot kneeled and grabbed an ab exercising wheel. It was one thing to suspend your disbelief in Transformers that you people couldn't see an Autobot or Decepticon logo, it is something else entirely to believe that no one noticed a face on the moped or helicopter.
My vote is for Transformers. Gobots by Hanna Barbara always had me expecting, Yogi or Quickdraw to make a cameo appearance. It would have been much better if it had been animated like Space Ghost.
I go for Transformers, simply because impacts looked realistic. A TF gets hit, they fall back and collapse like they've been hit. In Gobots, someone gets shot and they sort of go all dazed and stumble, it's like they are shooting each other on stun setting. There's other things, like ships taking off but getting shot down, where in Transformers, they'd blow up, in Gobots, they sort of crash to the ground and crumple, with a slight lick of flame breaking out of them in a non-threatening way. In a sense, you could say that Gobots was animated to be too kid friendly, it's like all the actual violence was sanitised. Transformers at least made the fights look real.
*Remembers Heavy metal war and call of the primitives" Transformers. *Remembers rest of season 3* Uhh... *Remembers Go-bots cartoon* Yeah, Transformers.
