    I haven't read the novel yet since I'm unable to find it, but having heard what everyone says how it ends...

    I'm sorry, but I just cannot see Megatron wanting peace, making a truce with Optimus Prime and say that he will do whatever he can to rebuild Cybertron.

    The movie ending with Optimus killing Megatron is much more fitting as an ending, because not once in the movie did we see Megatron having any intentions of making peace at all and it would have been completely out of character for him in suddenly offering a truce.

    So... movie ending is better.

    I have to go with the film ending, megatron wanted a truce because he needed optimus, but no way would megatron bend over backwards like a little bitch and ask for a truce, he would rather die.

    If Megatron did Rebuild cybertron
    would he really be content with just ruling that planet?
    Because he yelled "this is my planet" at sentinel
    while he was speaking about ours.
    I believe that Megatron would
    conquer the Universe and still not be satisfied.
    and didn't he used to scream
    "WE WILL DESTROY THOSE MISERABLE AUTOBOTS
    THEN CONQUER THE UNIVERSE
    all the time in G1 so i'm surprised that people
    want the novel ending when it just doesn't fit Megatrons character
    and if it's because it left the door open
    for another movie wouldn't that prove the point that Megatron will Never leave our Planet alone?
    oh well :confused:

    The ending of the Movie was poor.

    I would much rather the ending of the Novel in the movie so that it leaves it open for a 4th film where Megatron would show his true intentions and turn again on the Autobots.

    The ending of the Bay Movie didnt leave much open, apart from the breathing at the end of the credits which could be anything............

    Bay ruins it again!

    Movie. I may love Lord Hobotron/Crazy Elephant Man, but him dieing brings closure to the trilogy. Optimus kills his nemesis, the Decepticon menace is extinguished, the world is saved.

    Novel. Of course it has a better story, it doesnt have to cram it into 2 hours of movie leaving all character development on the cutting room floor.
    Then again, the ending of the movie was shit, it isnt hard to be better.

    We see Megatron for probably less than 5 minutes total, just another mindless roaring grunt.

    What I think most people are missing is that it isnt just a snap decision, they actually used Megatron properly in the novel, he got words and character development all leading up to his almost surrender.

    The film version because Megatron deserves to die.
