Must you ask? Original. He doesn't have exposed testicles.
Devastator the Bay verison.
I have to side with the bay version. No matter what you think of the design, it's realistic. ILM designs the robots where every part in the vehicle exists in the robot and vice-versa as opposed to G1 where parts (like dev's head, hands, waist and breastplate) appear out of nowhere.
Not a huge fan of the decepticles, but found it funny when I finally saw it.
The fan mode Devs doesn't work - it doesn't look like it has weight (it's too straight up and down). What 'Bayvastator' and the movie bots as a whole nailed perfectly was the sense of weight that comes from being that large.
bayvastator all the way
The fan devastator looks a lil wierd, compared to the more realistic bayvastator... but man, when u see that big green guy coming your way you shit bricks. When he speaks ur like 'ohhh sheeeeet' and pee a little. He's IMPOSING, and he knows it.
The movie devastator is dangerous for sure... but neither he nor the autobots seem to recognize that key factor.
I have to second this. That's always been a key part of Devs for me is the ... Ominusousness of him. Move Devs only seemed to scare Agent Simmons. And he was a 1 shot punk taken down by a human weapon. That didn't even hit where it was supposed to.
Well to be honest Prime doesn't look like he weighs that much when hes standing still. THe fan Devs could easily be made to appear to have a lot of weight when moving. Simple little things like making him hunch his shoulders and bend his knees a little would go a long way. But in moving footage of a robot weighing that much thats supposed to be as powerful as Devs more indcation of weight would come from its interaction with the environment and how the ground shakes and feet thud into the ground.
One of my biggest complaints about the Bayverstator is he isn't powerful enough to move quickly for a proper battle
Movieverse Devastator is much more realistic and IMO, much more imposing.
I prefer the original Devastator, but for the sake of the movie, the "Bay version" works. I liked the individual bot modes and appreciated the engineering (sans balls) that went into the latter. I really enjoyed seeing him struggle to lift his head after combining as well as falling down the pyramid a few times as he was trying to climb it. You almost get an classic movie monster feel from him as well.
Devastator was always supposed to be a super strong, yet not too bright lumbering weapon of mass destruction. And in my opinion Bay's version *looks* like it should fit that bill a lot better.
I was never a fan of the original, or any of the subsequent versions until the Bay version. Combiners are fine and all, but I really don't like the individuals becoming a shared consciousness thing. Even as a kid i always thought that the decepticons wouldn't work togeher well enough to make that work.
plus, i really like the design of the bay one.
Fanvastator has extra parts that will come out of nowhere like a wormhole
Bayvastator is just awesome with his testicles
I'd disagree with that statement. The smaller robots and even Prime moved around like they were weightless instead of multiton death machines.
'ROTF' version for definite - that fan version looks stiff and clumsy.
Fanvastator for the win!!!
FUCK the movie version!
