Alright, TRU Canada has a sale on Ultras right now for Cybertron.

A VERY good sale, mind you.

Now, I have to decide - WHO to get? I have none of the Cyb ultras right now.

My main criteria is a good asthetic in both modes, good posability, and a decent amount of complexity in the transformation. (I like the Classics voyager Prime for this).

    Suggestions anyone?

    Which ones are available? All?!

    Tops on my list:
Wing Saber (not great solo, but combined with prime = stellar)

Yeah - it's for all. Limit 3 per family.

    20 dollars Canadian.

    1. Wing Saber
    2. Cybertron Defense Red Alert
    3. Menasor

Jetfire and Scourge are awesome because they're on TV so much ... but as toys, they kinda suck.

    Of the ones I own:

    1. Wing Saber. More than decent on his own, phenomenal with Prime.

    2. Menasor. So-so alt mode, but kick-ass bot mode, great detail, and awesome articulation more than make up for it.

    3. Sky Shadow/Jetfire. Decent posability, cool bot mode, and realistic alt mode. His back tends to fall away from the body because it's so heavy and doesn't lock in place. Also, the missiles refuse to stay in his guns on mine-they shoot right back out the moment I put them in. Overall, pretty decent. I happen to prefer Sky Shadow's color scheme.

    4. Cryo Scourge/Scourge. Looks awesome in both modes, great paintjob in both versions, and has a giant axe for a weapon.l However, his posability is kind of meh. He looks great, though.

And that's all the Ultra Cybertron figures I own. Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

I'm leaning towards Wing Saber anyhow. I don't have a Prime to combine him with, but his modes look good.

And I don't mind undercarriage much anyhow.

Wing Saber's a good choice, though his transformation isn't the most complex, he looks great in both modes, and fantastic combined with Prime. Arms are funky to pose with the way the shoulders are attached.

CD Red Alert is fun. Again, not terrible complicated, but satisfying. I liked him a lot.

Jetfire/Sky Shadow - Not the most posable, but fun transformation (so I thought), excellent bomber mode, and I like his bot mode.

I don't have Menasor. But he comes with a minicon!

Based on your criteria, you probably don't want Scourge. His arms are weak in the posing department, his transformation is super simple, and, well, his dragon mode could have been a bit more impressive with real wings, rather than the spiky things on his arms. He DOES look good, but that's about all he does well.

Yeah - I got the LOC Trypticon. And I've seen Scourge in person - he's not that impressive as far as transformations go.

    Hi General Tekno,

Are you certain that Toys R Us Canada is having a sale of the Transformers Cybertron Ultra line? Is this a local or national sale?

I just checked the Toys R Us Canada website and the prices are still regular priced at $ 39.99.

I'm the only one saying this so I know I doubt I'll sway you, but I'd pick MENASOR. That alt. mode is weird yet works: It's a giant alien drilling thingy, and as such is pretty cool.
Add to that a superb 'bot mode and a better than usual Mini-Con and you have a winner!

WINGSABRE is too blocky to me, and awfully fragile too. RED ALERT isn't bad though, and SKY SHADOW is great even though he is a repaint.

If I could get only one, I'd get CD Red Alert. I've loved big honkin' missile trucks ever since I got Doubledealer in 1988.

I'd get Dark Scorponok if he was available.

Sadly, I haven't seen him around. He was VERY early on.

My picks would definitely be Scourge or Menasor.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DON'T BUY MENASOR!!!

-But if you do, first try to inspect it before you buy it!

    Here's why:

At least that's what I should have done. For $13 bucks on clearance at Target and I totally regret buying him.

Some Menasors have a mold problem where the 2 upper torso halves will not become flush when assembled together with the 4 screws used to hold them together. This causes one side of the figure to be fine while the other side (his right) has a huge gap and causes the upper arm articulation to be non-existent (it flops around and does not stay in place).

To makes matters worse, Menasor's minicon cannot be placed into his chest compartment because the door will not close. This causes the door to stay open at all times. The 2 door pegs are too thick for the 2 holes.
To make this work, one must sand the inner part of both holes until the 2 pegs fit in nice & snug. This will allow the chest/door to be flush with the rest of the torso.

And to make matter even more worse, the worker who assembled mine at the factory screwed his 4 torso screws in way too tight. Most likely due to the mold error (this person obviously attempted to fix it with good old force), which will not make his 2 torso halves flush when screwed together. So the sections where the 4 screws go into on my Menasor's torso are all Stripped and Split apart (so now none of them will hold together).

And to make matters even more worse, the lower black waist section also has this problem! And the person assembling it did to much of a (forceful) job so it's screw ports are also Stripped and Split. So not even both his legs will stay on! They just dangle and cannot hold the figure up at all!

A total disappointment! I should return him and get my $13 dollars back!

Well, when I get someone, it'll probably be Menasor if I get an Ultra.

No more Wing Sabers. Just some Menasor, Sky Shadow, and a boatload of Cryo Scourges.
