Ironhide

 

You know, I didn't mind Ironhide dying. I really liked the character and one of my favorites from the movie, but I think that same reason is why it was a good move. It gave the reaction people needed to hate Sentinel and realize he was truly the bad guy.

 

Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Que, Ironhide....hell, I wish most of the deaths in DOTM hadn't happened.

 

You're right, I immediately hated Sentinel Prime after that. But I would have had a similar reaction if he'd killed Ratchet, and then I wouldn't have lost my favorite Autobot from the movieverse. It bummed me out a bit.

 

Ironhide

Ironhide was tough to see go down, but like many others wrote before. It was for the better of the story. I wish the cycles didn't die in ROTM because I thought they could have added to DOTM. They would have been sweet in 3D during the highway chase.

 

For it to be better for the story, Ironhide's death would had to have been done better than what it was. No mention of him or mourning scene for him makes it pointless.

It was done for shock value, not the story, which is why I was so angered by it. It was all "Here's my dark movie!!!! Here's my serious movie!!!!" - then we cut to the parents and the Witwicky family meeting about Sam's hottie girlfriends.

The lack of respect given to most of the TFs is an issue I have with Bay and Co.....made worse by what was done to my favorite character.

The execution scene with Que has a different, but still slightly similar problem - we're told the Autobots are captured to set up another "dark!!!! serious!!!" scene, and Que, the new bot we saw for maybe a minute at most, is the one that dies and I can't even care because I have no attachment to the character.

Dark and serious is nothing without story and character backing it up.

 

in the spanish dub of ROTF he uses the male meaning of Twins (gemelos, not gemelas (the female meaning of twins) so its clear he was talknig to skids and Mudflap (who are male robots)

 

Shockwave, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and Jazz. Seriously, I never cared about Ironhide, and Sentinel killing him was pretty cool.

Since you PM'ed me this question, I'll answer here too in case anyone else wishes to chime in.

That's the Spanish version. In the English language version, the captions state that Lennox specifically says "Arcee twins..." If he were referring to Skids and Mudflap as well, then there would have been a comma, so it would have been written as; "Arcee, twins...". Lennox also refers to them earlier using the plural "Arcees". Since he only says the singular version of the word here and he's addressing all 3 bikes, it makes sense that he refers to them as "Arcee twins". Otherwise he would have said "Arcee, Chromia, Elita-1, twins...".

There's often differences between language versions. Since the original film is an English language film, and I speak English, I'm going with the English language version.

None. There should have been more deaths, the cybertronian race should have been pushed to its own complete extinction and whatever remains should have stood as a warning to humanity not to repeat their mistakes.
