A few years ago there was a popular series named Battlestar Galactica. Which was a reimaginening of the old BSG from 1978.

Starbuck (aka Kara Thrace) is a female character. The original starbuck was male. Changing Starbuck's gender pissed off quite some original BSG fans.

What male Transformers character would you turn female in a similar re-imaging?

I'm thinking off maybe Soundwave.

Talk of a female Soundwave reminds me of all the confusion that resulted from TFP Soundwave playing back recordings Arcee's voice.

 

Keeping in the spirit of a young maverick hero type...... Hot Shot fits the bill.

 

I think Blurr would make a good fembot.

Red Alert was changed into a female in Animated.

If we got another gender swap, I'd like to see Starscream as a female. It would make the whole dynamic of trying to overthrow Megatron more interesting. She'd seduce him just enough to make him love her and therefore be the reason Megatron doesn't kill her for her treachery.

 

This has already happened in hundreds of Rule 34 pieces. Most of the time, the gender swap doesn't even happen.

IF that dynamic worked, slash fiction would be way more popular. They are sort of working this dynamic with Airachnid in TF rime.

How about Grimlock or Unicron?

 

I could see Springer as a battleaxe type. Or the Coneheads as female, being a stiletto strikeforce to the primary Seekers' two-handed sword. Or the Combaticons, or Predacons.

Powerglide could be fun as a female character. Likewise Prowl, Inferno, maybe Hoist. Cliffjumper would be hilarious. I could actually see Blitzwing being interesting, too - maybe as a more introverted (in the technical sense) type.

 

They could turn Bumblebee female, so it could be as controversial as starbuck.
