Three of the Avengers bear SOME similarity to Optimus Prime (please note the SOME):

    Iron Man - eyeball-gouging, monster-engaging show-stealing hero

Capt America – war hero, red/blue décor, antagonist of Hugo Weaving

Thor – royalty from another world, possessed with divine power, brother of the antagonist

I left out the Hulk. Because I know he’d have gotten the most votes.

Anyway I voted Thor, because it seemed to be the most fitting to me.

None of the Avengers are even remotely like Optimus Prime.

Captain America easily. He's honorable and noble, but he's also willing to play dirty if he needs to be, even though he's against it. People tend to think he's a boy scout, which he is to a degree, but people forget he's also a soldier. He killed Nazis left and right during World War II, not to mention Skrulls in "Secret Invasion," despite him against killing, he's not against it if the cause is just. He's also inspirational and charismatic, even to those who could easily overpower him and are his physical superiors.

Cap won't abandon his own country? He's quit being Captain America before during his Nomad and Captain phases, because he felt the system was broken. Left the government, worked just for the people, when they were needed.

(edit) incorrect info deleted for clarity (edit) however I will say sounds like from your other post there he actually started working for the country when he worked for the people and not the govt.

    Of the People.
    By the People.
    And for the People.

Has an Avenger ever ripped a person's face off?

Well, without knowing it was a rubber mask?

Sacrifice them? Didn't you hear Leadfoot state that they landed in the Atlantic Ocean? It took Sam and Epps till the next day to reach there, let alone the guys in the ocean. They never would have made it in time to stop the city's destruction.

And no damage was done by the different replacements the U.S. Government used to hide Cap's quitting, while he was traveling the countryside via motorcycle for months, as the Nomad and the Captain?

Hulk, but he wasn't an Avenger at the time. Although a squad of Avengers did break off from Cap's team to lead what they thought was an assassination (Operation: Galactic Storm). They were later tried by the Avengers.

Heh, sadly I don't own the flick to go back and check that part exactly. That being said I am not unwilling to admit when I am wrong.

But it really says something when, even if I was wrong, someone could be left with that impression of the character, doesn't it.

Are we not discussing the movies here?

The topic Du Jour as the movie just came out, soon enough it will probably change to Batman again. :lol

I understand your point. Personally, I just felt he was incredibly angered at what the Decepticons had done, and that Earth's leaders should have realised that the Decepticons weren't going to just make peace and all that.

Let's face it, they are called Decepticons. You'd expect them to be deceptive, LOL.

Prime never said or acted in such a way in the movies. Hell, in the first one he was willing to doom himself and the only possible artifact that could save his species.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH! No wait..BWAHAHAHA!!! Go check on the definition of a war criminal and then come back to me.

That's totally not what happened at all.

Sentinel made a threat of "expatriate the autobots, and we will spare your world." If the autobots hadn't faked their deaths, it would have been a lot more than just Chicago that would have been decimated. The ball was in their court, so they had to do something to figure out what the Con's next move was. It wasn't like they knew in advance Chicago was the next target. There literally wasn't any other option.

The whole "Now your leaders will understand" line wasn't well phrased, but the one thing it certainly wasn't intended to mean was "screw you guys, we will save the city only when you appreciate us"

But it's not a TransFormers Movie, which this forum is made for.  Honestly, at first it was okay, but now these Avengers threads are really pushing it.
