Ive recently started collecting Binaltechs and the few other Alternators that were not released and Bts and was wondering appart from BT-17 Black Convoy and BT-18 Ligier Electro which are the hardest to track down, priciest etc?

Do i have much chance of near completing the BT and few Alts im after without totally breaking the bank?

And just as a side note i always, always get interested in a toy line after it has ceased! Sods law i guess :lol

Swerve is easily the rarest Alternator.

Camshaft can be difficult to track down, as can Mirage (Especially the Binaltech 'invisible' version). Some versions of Smokescreen are also tough to find.

For Alternators, Swerve is going to set you back at least $100. Camshaft is hard to find as well and Mirage, while not all that hard to find, is popular.

Binaltech, I am not sure about rarity other then BT-17 and 18. They all just seem to go for a lot any more. I got them all at release.

The ones already mentioned are going to be expensive but prices have come down on many Alts and Bts in the past few months. Swerve just sold on ebay in the last few days for under $50 and he used to be a $100+ figure. I have also seen some lots sell on ebay for well below retail of $20/figure.

Red box Prowl was pretty hard to find, if variants matter to you.

Yep, alternator's price has dropped ALOT recently, I'm not exactly sure why though.

    Swerve, obviously.

Alt. Ravage seems to be kinda pricy.

I would think Nemmy and Rody too because of exclusivity.

Probably because the line is over and I think most of the people that wanted the hard to find ones have long since got them. Just my thought.

Well, the prices exploded after the movie, so demand has probably finally started to die down. The second movie will probably boost them again a bit.

I think that red Chevy Aveo would be. Didn't you have to buy a Chevy in Japan to get it? Or at least a test drive?

Wasn't an Alternator, was a deluxe figure. Think was Universe, might have been Classics.

    Ebay:
Universe 1.0, and I believe the last item affiliated with the line.

Yeah, it's been great! I'm working on finishing off my collection and there have been pretty close to retail prices on Ebay for them. Plenty are still expensive, but I'm spending around $20 for several figures.

I'd also put decepticharge as one of the more expensive ones... like unmc said, watch for lots with some of the rarer figures in them for the best buy and then fill in the cheaper gaps individually.
Don't forget about the BT Asterick and Kiss Players. Those were too rich for my blood.

I just starting buying some of these but unsure which line to collect. I was thinking BT but not sure if the extra $$ is worth it and which line is actually better.

Universe, and you could order it from the chevy europe website for €15

Has nothing to do with Alternators or Binaltech.

I have had a nearly complete set of both and I chose to keep my Alts over Bts. I feel overall the Alts joints are tighter and the figures are easier to pose. Some of the Bts have paint chipping issues. I did keep my Bt Jazz and Skids though because the paint really made the figure look better than their Alt counterpart. Alts are easier to customize as well.

I just unloaded all of my alts and BTs. I kept BT Prime, Alt. Nemesis Prime, and Rodimus.

I have a Binaltech Prowl and Red Alert I have been thinking about getting some sticker sheets from Repolabels and switching heads on the figures. I just don't like the japanese lettering all over the figures.
