    With only 2 weeks until the PS3 launch and 16 days for the Wii launch, where the heck are the kiosks with the playable demos? The local video game store (Rhino) said that Sony was charging $6000 for their display. Maybe that's keeping retailers with lots of stores from buying them? Or maybe they figure the first shipment will sell out regardless of the kiosks? Either way, kinda strange don't ya think?

    Here's a better question; where's the f'ing Wii promos? I went Zellers and Wal-Mart today PS3 stuff everywhere, even the empty boxes to hype us up, nothing for the Wii, nothing.

    My Wal-mart just has little sticker out things on the game wall. Wii's being advertised in all the flyers as coming out Nov. 19 though, so it's getting word of mouth.

    But where's the TV commercials that'll treach dumbasses how to pronounce "Wii"?

    Would you promote the PS3 when your store is only getting 3-4 of them in ? No, I wouldn't. Don't create hype when you can't supply the product.

    What about the games and accessories? Wouldn't you want to promote those via an in-store kiosk?

    Gamestop just got their Wii kiosk a few days ago. The catch is, it didn't come with a remote and the Nintendo rep will be in soon to provide them with it. Its suppose to be demoing Excite Truck

    I saw a bunch of PS3 kiosks at the Times Square TRU. Looked pretty sweet.

    Personally, if I still ran an electronics department I'd be pretty happy with NOT having one of those "babysit the kids and let them fight while mommy and daddy shop elsewhere in the store (or at OTHER stores) after all they have the salespeople there to watch our kids so we don't have too" units...too often parents thought I was their damn babysitter....and from experience, I NEVER sold a single item because someone happened to play it on the kiosk and decided to buy it...much more often then not those things are a COMPLETE waste!

    my walmart and zellers have entire sections blocked off with just a big wii mockup poster thing for where the wii section will be. haven't noticed much ps3 stuff aside from a little sign when you walk into the walmart.

    Wal-mart won't be getting any kiosks for Wii. Really, you're best chances of finding one are going to be at Gamestop/EB Games and TRU.

    And yeah, hyping the PS3, while good for getting demand, would be a total catastrophe. I don't really expect too many kiosks for that.

    Apparently from what I read on Cheapassgamers, the PS3 kiosks that were at TRU in NYC were either broken or arrival or simply were broken in less than a day o_o;;

    Can you imagine the nightmare of a display wireless controller that you have to fling around? Granted you could put a chain on it, but heath and safety would probably look down on flinging a chain around a crowded store.

    In this sue happy world I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't see a proper Wii kiosk.

    Seeing as how the entire plan for the Wii rests in getting people to experience it, that would be just about the dumbest thing Nintendo could do.

    There were like 5 or 6, and I think only 2 of them were actually working.

    At the local walmart here they have a display case setup right now with a bunch of the game boxes in it. They wont have the actual system playable in it but will be showing video footage of games on the lcd screen inside of it.

    You don't have to "fling" the Wii controller. Small gestures are fine, and that's easily managed with a cord or chain.

    Yeah, I realise, but Joe Public will probably fling it around.
