I seem to recall Hasbro saying there were going to be allot of surprises for the 25th anniversary of Transformers. Anybody know what they were? The pink Prime? MP Skywarp? TRU Perceptor, Insecticons? Those were all nice but far from a 25th anniversary celebration!

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed.

There were no mass-surprises after all?

Just bad timing is all. With Revenge of the Fallen coming out this year, they had to concentrate on that toy line. Maybe once the ROTF buzz starts dying down, they can do a 25th Anniversary thing late next year. Who cares if it's a year too late? :)

Shaky Economy + ROTF = No resources put into additional "surprises" beyond those mentioned in the original post. That's my guess, anyway.

There is no such thing as a surprise anymore with the internet.
I think you guys are out of your mind. We got some of the BEST. FIGURES. EVER. in much of this year's Universe assortments. Not to mention an infinitely improved Movie Optimus mold, when really... it would not have been out of line to provide a new repaint or retool of the Movie-1 Leader OP figure. Same thing goes for Voyager Starscream, and hey- we're getting an even better Leader mold very soon.

I may not be very big on the movie line, but I can at least appreciate the effort put in to do these molds and characters justice.

We got great stuff in '09. Here's to a great '10, and another 25th Anniversay for the movie in '11.

I too consider most of Universe as part of the 25th anniversary stuff. when looking at universe, there's no way you can deny that it wasnt one hell of a celebration of transformers. I'm sure hasbro sees it that way too.

they brought minibots back, man! MINIBOTS!

I'm happy with what I got, but I'm not surprised by anything Hasbro did.

But then again, that seems to be the case with this franchise a lot.

We had Universe and Animated on the shelves for practically half the year (well, Animated is still on most store pegs).

^^^ This so very very much.

Also the giant list of win is correct, we got plenty of stuff.

Despite the naysayers it could be argued that simply getting a second movie (and ginormous market exposure/ toy-line) was a pretty big 25th anniversary.

1/2 of those were in 08, but there were a few you left out, reissue insecticons and perceptor are the two that come quickly to mind

while we did get alot of great stuff I was disappointed by the lack of one thing:

no Universe supreme class of one of the G1 city bots heck i would have been pleased to a degree by a repaint of the Cybertron Metroplex as G1 Metroplex if we would have gotten one it would have been the criowning object for the 25th aniversary

Its not like Hasbro wasn't going to make Transformers this year. It's been their number one money maker for the past few years now. Not to mention this list looks like it has allot of 08 stuff in it too!

I like what we did get but there wasn't anything really special.
