but where were the cheyrnobly scenes filmed and the highway scenes ?

If i remember correctly, cheyrnobly was filmed in Gary, Indiana and highway stuff idk.

I heard rumors that the Moon scenes were filmed on the same studio lot where they filmed the Moon landing...

 

Also, I wonder whre they filmed Cybertron.

The highway scenes were filmed on a stretch somewhere between Chicago, IL, and Gary, IN.


Aside from most of the government buildings, most of what is considered D.C. was shot in Chicago, like Sam and Carly's apt ext, as well as the scene of Simmons and Sam going with the Autobots to find the Cosmonauts.

The scene where Simmons, Dutch, and Sam are spying on the Russians was shot near Navy Pier in Chicago.


Plus, they shot some scenes around Detroit and inserted those in as 'Chicago.' Like the ground shots of the storefront exploding or when we first see the humans being disintegrated. As well, the street where Bumblebee, Carly, and Sam crash in the drone ship is in Detroit.


Plus, Dylan's big business place where Sam goes to pick up Carly is actually the Milwaukee Art Museum. My friend said it's hard to think of it as 'a place in D.C.' The main reason it's so hard for him and his wife, is because they had their first date at the museum.  


And as for most of the locations of downtown Chicago, probably half of them can be recognized...every other shot, Bay just clumps the hell out of Downtown's architecture.

Can someone tell me where megatron died. I'm in Chicago for a couple days and wanted to pay my respects.

 

Wasn't it on a bridge somewhere? I am not from Chicago, so I couldn't tell you.

 

A TFW2005 member put gravestones for Sentinel and Megatron on the bridge. They might still be there lol.

 

I believe SP and Megatron died on the LaSalle St. bridge. Also, the highway chase was on that closed stretch of Cline Ave. in NW Indiana IIRC.

The scenes where Sam, Epps, and his buddies are driving into Chicago amid torched cars and running people was shot in the MPEA busway near the Art Institute. The busway is a recessed roadway that runs parallel to Michigan Ave. for a stretch, along with some railroad tracks. That's where I was an extra for a day last summer (haven't seen myself in those scenes yet), I even recognized a couple guys from those scenes.

EDIT- Also, the Mexican Standoff was shot at Indiana Ave and 23rd St, just off McCormick Place East IIRC:

Yes, Optimus/Sentinel/Megatron's final fight took place on the LaSalle St Bridge.

I swear, if the next Botcon is here, I might try to arrange walking tours around downtown to show movie locations.

I always thought Ironhide's death was filmed in Virginia because that's where the NEST HQ was.
