Simple question really, when did G1 become Geewunn and more importantly is it used by cool people or dweebs?

Regardless of how it started, it's mostly used now to softly insult a fellow fan for merely not liking something, some aspect, story, etc of a new continuity. Sure, there's some folks that seem to hit up G1 in preference when speaking of what they don't like about something, yet a lot of them also give other generational suggestions that go unnoticed. Shit, nowadays you rarely have to even mention G1 in preference. Say you don't like something new in a post and eventually someone will quote you & refer to you as a Geewunner right after they say you're whining. I wish I could never see that term again, among many others fans throw at each other for having a damn preference in a hobby ffs.

if someone says "geewun" in a non-joking manner, that person is labeling themselves as an idiot. just like if someone uses the term "anibabies", they are proclaiming their own idiocy.

thats really all that needs to be said.

It's one of those words I wish we could excise from use in the community.

It USED to be a mildly mocking, poking-fun term (a written eyeroll, so to speak) describing non-progressive fans stuck in 1984. Now it's divisive and hateful... nothing is "light" anymore in discussion board arguments, everything is angry and bitter. It's like no matter what you write, someone is waiting to go, "HEY WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT F U JERK".

Ah well. Regardless, you're a better poster if you choose not to use the term.

It's a hate term that in reality should be censored in same manner as racist slang.
