when prime killed grindor/blackout, he has two hooks that he used to climb on top of him, and rips his face apart. but my question is, where did they come from?

are his hooks really his blades that became severely damaged and mangled from kicking so much ass? or are the hooks a separate weapon entirely?

They're too well formed to be damaged blades. The only assumption that can be made is that they're separate weapons. As for where they came from...the same place his blades come from. Or any weapons for that matter.

My guess is IronHide made them since he's a weapons specialist. Prime also used them to rip off his parachutes at the begining of the film when he was being air dropped into Shanghai.

They're probably separate weapons. I believe he used them to cut the parachute in the beginning.

Yeah there was a thread about this some time I ago and I think the general census was they were an Energon based weapon meaning they could "transform" into whatever Prime wanted them to.

When the movie first came out, it was mentioned on TNI forums that they could just be his energy blades, but without the energy. We know they have the silver metal bits at the top, and I think the idea works.

Although, it just makes Prime yet more psychotic "I don't need no stinkin' energy to rip your face off!!!".

So he starts ripping faces off with meat hooks, then just resorts to using his hands!

Yes, Prime uses hooks/smaller blades for his parachutes as well.. I thought I was the only one that noticed, since everybody just assumed the hooks were his damaged blades

    This.

We see many of the Tranformers reconfiguring their arms & hands into various weaponry for both long-range & melee battles. It's very likely they have multiple presets that can be activated.

I do hope this leads to an Energo-Axe in TF3.

I assumed they were different weapons just for faces.

you all took that literally. obviously they store in his forearms.

what i was really asking if you read the post was 1) were they just severely damaged blades. or 2.) are they a different set of weapons entirely

Seeing as he used them in Shanghai for the parachutes, and seeing the blades were once again intact in the battle against the Fallen, I'd say they are different.

I figure Prime has a lot of stuff in his arms. He keeps bigass swords in there, I'm sure there's room for a couple of hooks. (fictionally they were probably designed and used for less-violent purposes, like climbing or digging, whatever, but when in Rome...)

Yeah kinda like cnic said, I just assumed they were a secondary form of the blades.

Seems to me that if a transformer can tranform their whole body around, they could probably transform the shape of their melee weapons as well.

Prime's got an entire Swiss army knife assembly in his arm.

..."let's see... Corkscrew, no. Blades, already used those. Tweezers, no. Screwdriver, no. Hooks, that'll work."

Transformers are able to produce many integreated weapons systems from their bodies. The hooks Prime uses are just a new choice of weapon for the job. I imagine Transformers can create almost any weapon they want from the metal in their body.

I think the real question here is not where the hooks came from, but "where did people's imagination go?"

No offense to the OP, but ROTF made me realize how many people out there need things explained directly to their faces.

I mean, seriously, here we have TFs that seem to produce weapons out of every orifice of their bodies, yet when Prime has a set of hooks where the swords are, people are like "Hey...where did those hooks come from?!?" Do you people not trust your own selves enough to just say "the swords can transform too" or "there's more than one weapon in there" or ANYTHING? Your first thought is "quick!!! I need someone to explain this to me!"

Did video games do this? Rob people of imagination?

Again, this is not directed at the OP, just a blanket statement for the "wtf is happening right in front of my face" crowd.

I just assumed Prime's swords were made of Energon and could be reformed into various shapes, such as hooks.
