My guess is leftover stock from TRU. Magnus was a bit of a shelfwarmer, after all. I wouldn't hold my breath for Optimus, he sold like crazy.
LOL! Seriously though, I think it has something to do with firing up the machines to make the Pepsi Primes for Mt. Dew and HTS. Since Magnus is a remold of Prime, they probably just ran a bunch right along with him.
I just wonder if it's worth ordering a few of these. Do you think the price will go up on them again? I already own two (one boxed, one for display) but I'm considering buying some more to resell a few years down the road. Anyone know if these latest releases have any differences with the box? Is there a way to tell the new ones from the original TRU exclusive?
Shelfwarmer? I'm not sure I ever saw Magnus on the shelves! Pretty much all the reissues that came AFTER Magnus certainly sat there forever, though....
Definately not a shelfwarmer. I had to pull all of my Commerative Series I guys out of the case from an employee.
Okay, maybe not as bad of a shelfwarmer as all the later waves, but the last three or so lingered at my TRU for a really long time, while Optimus and Hot Rod sold out almost immediately.
Ultra Magnus is a cool character but I hate the G1 toy. As for where, probably left over stock that they recently discovered.
I'm gonna have to second this motion because warehouses tend to swallow things and hide them for a while.
