I have 40ish figures that i have collected over 3 years. My collection method would be considered odd to most people on here. I grew watching Beast Wars and loving Transformers toys. For the sheer price, I couldn't try collecting only Beast Wars. So what i do is just get the ones that i think are cool. When a new line comes out i just pick through the ones that i like. I also usally pick up any CHUG figure that i find on sale and any figure that i come by at yard sales, even if i don't particular because they end up in my fodder bin . My point is, i keep my collecting for the most part cheap and i wanted to see if anyone else was a Cheapformer like me.

Totally agree. Though in some cases I'll usually pick up what I've been putting off.

I try to get the mold I love most of the character. For one I can't afford or find I try to make a custom. Most of them are classics but I've got a few Armada and Cybertron mixed in.

Cheap went out the window a while ago. I do, however, limit myself to 2 main foci (G1 classics and BW figs) w/ the occasional extra fig thrown in, so the volume isn't crazy.

I haven't bought a single DotM figure at MSRP. Actually, I'm pretty sure Gens Thundercracker is the only one I've bought at full price since the beginning of RotF...and that's only because it was back in May, when no one was sure we were actually going to see that wave hit retail in mass waves.

I bargain shop for a few of reasons:

    • my expendable cash is limited
    • shopping smart makes sense
    • bargain shopping for other figures can allow for a premium purchase

I would like to add that sometimes it makes more sense to shop online and pay the extra money versus driving from store to store spending the time, the gas, and the gas money.

On the topic,I love bargains so much that I have spent about $50 in two days getting a bunch of figures from Walmart for less than $5 apiece, with those coupons Hasbro released,in all I got all of the following, but truthfully I don't think I'm thru yet.

    I got these:
    DOTM Deluxe Roadbuster for $4.88
    DOTM Deluxe Topspin for $4.88
    DOTM Deluxe Crankcase for $4.88
DOTM Deluxe Walmart Racing Sideswipe for $4.88
DOTM Deluxe Walmart Optimus Prime for $4.88
    DOTM Cyberverse Guzzle for $2.96
    DOTM Voyager Shockwave for $10
    Generations Scourge for $6.88

If I had bought these at regular price they woulda been close to $100 so I saved a chunk of change. Thanks Hasbro.

I bought all my Dark of the Moon Deluxes and Voyagers & Cyberverse on the cheap for the most part.

But then what rational person would want to pay £9.00 for Cyberverse Sentinel Prime ?

if I cheap out on the main line items then I can save the funds I have spare from time to time for 3rd Party & Convention toys.

I buy in bulk so I tend to get things pretty cheap, even good stuff. I do enjoy a rare Micron though, those can be expensive.
