I guess that all depends on your income, budget, bills, location, travel expenses and so on.

Primus package registration is usually around $400, and another $200 for the souvenir add-ons. Then there's hotel, travel, food, and whatever else you might buy in the dealer room or otherwise.

Best time to start saving is ASAP. Put money away each paycheck. As for the amount, around a thousand bucks is my going cost.

Yea, you probably want to start now. I started back in July believe it or not. It's nothing crazy, $20-30 each check depending on your budget adds up pretty quickly. I already have a good bit saved up. $1,000 is good for one person, but it really depends on if you plan on going by yourself, food money, sight seeing and transportation. My wife and I went to the last 2 Botcons and each year in total we probably spent $2,500 +/-...

I been saving since the last Botcon. I take X each week and put it aside as I know I am going to spend at least $2000 there on some plastic goodness.

Like said already, it depends on to what extent you need to. I've been to 4 BotCons, but I'm terrible at saving, so I never bothered to.

With that in mind, probably a good $600-800 depending on if you are wanting the Primus package and add-ons...
