When you buy your TFers do you count the sale price or the shipped price?

I have been thinking about this a bit lately. When I get a TFer I look at total price with shipping. To me it is part of the cost of the total figure. So I just wondering how you guys think of it.

I look at the total cost to include shipping. Because sometimes that's a significant part of the cost.

Price plus shipping for me. I don't count tax for something I bought from the store though.

If I didn't include the shipping cost, Herc would have been $90 cheaper.

I factor in both. Money spent is money spent.

Yeah, I have been surprised to see people talk in price of figure instead of total price spent on figure.

Yeah I factor it in. My wallet isn't as tight for that but I do keep it in mind. Luckily it can be mitigated with larger orders.

I always include shipping when determining my costs. Always. It's coming out of your funds afterall, so why not count it?

Absolutely I do. Shipping costs are a major reason why I buy very few things online.

Once shipping gets over $10 for an item or order, yes I count it. When you buy off of eBay as much as I do you have to when comparing prices for the same item on sale from different retailers.

If I'm paying for it, I have no choice but to factor it in. This is why out of the city trades don't really work out for me.

I usually factor it in, but if it's an order from BBTS then I don't since it's going into a pile.

It's a fine balancing act. Shipping isn't free, and it amazes me that a lot of folks bristle at the thought of spending what it actually costs to box and ship figures. Packaging costs money. Packing peanuts, foam, bubble wrap, and tape costs money. The post office, FedEx, UPS, and EMS want their cut too. So yes, I do consider shipping costs and factor them into the total price, but it's easily money well spent in many cases (BBTS PoL, for example).

Still, purchasing online can be a nice convenience for those with jobs, family, and other commitments that demand their time and energy. Gas isn't cheap either. For all the headaches of hunting down figures in brick and mortar stores, sometimes it's just easier (no screaming kids and annoying store clerks or dealing with long lines) and even cheaper to buy online and wait for the toys to come to you; fire and forget and all that.

90% of my figures are purchased online so yes shipping is counted in total.

Total price for me : Figure Cost, Shipping, and taxes (if any). That's part of the reason I favor bbts for a lot of new things.

Sometimes I need to figure in gas cost as well. If it's going to take me 8$ to make a round trip to Toys r us or Target and the cost on bbts is only 5$ higher I might just go with them instead.

Like other said, not with BBTS since it is going in the POL. The few times I order from TRU, HTS, or Target, yes. Probably why I don't really order retail stuff online, even if they get it in advance. The POL has really taught me patience with my collecting.

As far as a trade goes, I don't factor in shipping. If he has a $20 figure, and I have a $20 figure, but shipping only costs him $5 and costs me $8, I write it off as an even swap.

When I trade, I'm kinda like this too. I only count the value of the item/s up for trade, and I completely eat shipping. I generally always buy a good shipping container, typically a box and get a good amount of packing material in, and I always ship USPS priority and delivery confirmation. Someone might send me USPS First Class and pay less with shipping, but that's just the nature of shipping stuff out. I can't really put an equivalent trade value with the shipping costs as each person is going to use different services or a different carrier.

that is the only logical decision. :)  bbts pol is awesome cause it cuts down on shipping so much.
