It will never be released on DVD in the US for the simple fact that I really want it.

Or for the fact that Disney owns the rights to the show and they don't do boxsets.

Saban did the dub for RID. Disney owns Saban and hence owns the rights to the RID dub.

Because Disney bought out Saban, who brought the show to North America. They bought out a lot of their properties, too, including Power Rangers, and 90's era Spider-man and X-men cartoons, which a lot of people are also wanting to see on DVD.

I'm sure it will happen sooner or later, Disney has started putting a lot of their "Disney Afternoon" shows on DVD (IE Ducktales, Rescue Rangers and more are on the way). It's just a matter of being patient.

If I were Disney, and I'm not, but if I were, I'd want to get that on the market sometime before July 4th, 2007.

Both released in Novemeber, with no follow-ups announced released by Buena Vista, a subsidiary of the ABC company, which is owned by Disney.

Buena Vista has shown little to no interest in releasing former Saban properties (such as Power Rangers and Transformers RID) in boxset form. They have released some of their newer Power Rangers stuff in various episode discs with a few eps at a time. But nothing that would give a glimmer of hope to an eventual RID release in part or full set.

    I'll disagree, Joe

Previously, Buena Vista has been fairly aggressive in releasing DVDs when the marketing presents itself.

I'd give good odds that we'll see a few RID DVDs about the time of the movie, similar to how we saw the F4 boxset around the film's release and the X-Men/Spider-Man discs that appeared with the live action films.

Box set? Extremely unlikely (though, granted, they did so with Fantastic Four), but I'll put even money on some sort of DVD release to capitalize on the film

Well this would be a nice time for Hasblow to step in and reclaim just RID so we can get it. I really want it. I missed the very last show. It was never aired here. I have every episode on VHS BUT that one :(

Maybe we should petition Disney. They probably don't know they have something in their possession that would sell.

If Disney was to make the boxset do you think they would have the option to watch in Japanese with eng subtitles? RID is in the same situation as Digimon, it was also a Saban show. I guess it is just a waiting game now. :(

No, the show's video was edited, so the Car Robots and RiD versions are different. It would need to be an altogether seperate episode, not just a different language track and subtitle option. Good idea though.
