Now it needs a female director, or Ridley Scott... maybe Cameron.

yeah, i saw that too. they got a guy who's done comedy, which i might actually prefer. wally west (who i think should be in the movie) always had a good sense of humor to him. now if this guy can just mix humor and some darkness, it'll be awesome....but who should the villian(s) be?

Bum, I was looking forward to Whedons take on WW... I was never a fan of his particularly, Buffy was craptacular after Season 3 (when Angel got his soul back and then killed by Buffy, after that, downhill) and Angel was meh.

Firefly and Serenity totally changed my opinion about him though.

Do you guys know what his "take" on the WW movie was? I've heard people knock it but I don't know what angle he was going for. I'm a fan of his work (loved Buffy, Angel, Serenity) although, sometimes his dialogue can get grating because a lot of his characters get that 'cutesy-wise-ass attitude'.

Oh when will some studio guy finally give a live action DC movie to Bruce Timm and/or Paul Dini?! Yeah yeah, I'll keep dreaming. As for Whedon, well I'm just not a fan of his work, so I can't say I'm bummed to hear this.

Can't say as I've been a fan of any of Whedon's work. So this news is more a "meh". Plus I really have no interest in a WW movie. So it all balances out.

The Trickster! Of course, there's only one man for that role.

Can't stand Whedon's stuff, so glad to hear that he's off the WW film. Not that I'm a big fan of Wonder Woman but I might be willing to give it a chance now that I know Whedon won't be there to screw it up completely.

I live to make Brad angry. I like him when he's angry.

Well, I'm disappointed in this news. As a big fan of Whedon's work, he was the only reason I had any interest in this movie. Now? Not so much.

Yeah, this is unfortunate news. Aside from being a Firefly/Serenity fan, I know that Whedon is great at writing strong, believable female characters.

Hopefully, they find someone else who can write a character in this sort of bizarre situation, and still make the flick feel genuine.

Never heard of the guy until my cousin handed me the Firefly DVD set about six weeks ago. I watched the whole thing over a weekend - brilliant. Grabbed the movie and loved that, too.

I think he writes comics as well, correct? Not a big comic reader. Regardless, I'd enjoy seeing some of his other projects.

His comic book projects include Fray (excellent future Vampire Slayer), Astonishing X-Men (the flagship X-Men book) and soon to be in Runaways. There's more, but I am most familiar with and own Fray and Astonishing. In fact, his work with Astonishing put me back into comic collecting after 12+ years of hiatus.

I'm pretty upset that Whedon is getting the shaft again from studios. And this new script that they bought with WW in the 1940s during WW2? No one wants to see that. They want to see modern era WW so that she can interact with modern era Supes and Bats at some point in the future. I think WW live action is dead and buried. There's no way it's getting off the ground anymore, no matter who else they bring to write or direct.

.... aren't there any female directors who'd want to do this?

Hopefully there'll never be a WW movie. I am sure it'll crash and burn no matter who's helming it.
