Keep wearing what you already are. They've served you well for all this time. Why spend more when you don't need to? Then save the money for Transformers. We can sock it up in here. I'm particular about my socks but still not intersted in paying much. I don't like ones too thick or fluffy. And I hate ones where the seam across the toe area is huge and chunky because it fells like there's something in your shoe. Generally I wear socks just as a barrier between my foot and my shoe, nothing more fancy than that. And usually it's not much worth buying more expensive socks for me because my heels have a tendency to wear through any sock in a couple of weeks. My girlfriend bought me some very nice socks for Christmas (Where are my damn Transformers toys for Christmas, woman!!?) and my heels destroyed them within a couple of months. I try to keep my heels soft to lessen the sock damage but sometimes after a day on my feet they're as harsh as a crusty bread roll. My father was the Sock Man though. Utterly fucking obsessed with his socks. Carefully balled and each pair stored in their own little draw-string pouch, and then all the pouches in slots in a special sock cabinet he made for himself. And each week he'd get them all out and re-do them and angrily accuse everyone in the house of messing with his socks.
Depends on what I'm doing, but it's usually a choice between New Balances, Shell-toes, or Chucks. Or this other pair of Converse shoes which I call the "Mr. Rogers" shoes. Then a pair of Natha Studio boots when I go out. They're awesome.
I wear whatever cheap walmart brand I can find. I used to spend 150-200 dollars on nikes just to see them get destroyed. Now I buy really cheap shows and they fall apart about the same as the super expensive shoes.
Name calling is a sign of an insecure personality, even if it's "just a joke." I don't get it, why look at someone who's doing something different than you'd do it and instead of saying "Good for you, I applaud your confidence and uniqueness," why would you try to do something that makes them feel as though they're doing something wrong? I think it's cowardly and egotistical...even it it's "just joking." Let me guess; some are going to assume I'm being too sensitive because I wear cowboy boots. I don't. It's not my thing. But I'll be damned if I let anyone make fun of people who do and enjoy it. Or any other type of footwear for that matter.
My goto shoes nowadays are Nike 6.0's. All black pair for work and a white pair for causal fundays. I used to love wearing high/mid top basketball shoes thru middle/high school but anything covering my ankle feel awkward now.
You really need to ask? I'm a snake lover. My brother has two; a corn and a baby red tail boa. Both of which I pretty much babysit while he's at work and drinking all day every day.
