I first noticed this on the EMPIRE aritcle with Optimus then the game demo where Optimus and Bumblebee were holding their guns and now on Transformers.com where Megatron is holding his gun.

Why do you think this was done? I liked the gun-arms and hope they're still in there but I know some people hated this.

Optimus always held his guns. It looks like they are part of his arms but you can actually see his hands holding the handles.

As for characters like Bumblebee and Ratchet, who always had transformable arms..I think it's because these new MechTech are newer, bigger guns that are not part of their own bodies. Maybe time or size prevents them to incorporate it into their arms.

I think Megatron is using his ROTF armcannon modified to sit on his arm because he can't attach it back properly.

    i'm not too bothered

this whole "mech tech" technology is supposedly newly developed. maybe they didnt have time to integrate them? maybe they dont have ROOM to integrate them?

    i dunno

either way, i'm not too bothered. its still gonna look freakin sweet

I always like the whole gun/arm attachment idea. It'll take some time but the holding-gun idea will grow on me also. Optimus and Shockwave look epic that way but BB is a little so-so...

It doesn't matter to me how a transformer holds their gun, just as long it isn't in a awkward position, (ROTF Blenderbot).

    Wait, his gun is hand-held?

Sideswipe in ROTF besides his dual swords are his dual pistols.

BB, Ratchet, The Twins have their arms transforming into weapons.

I never liked them changing their hands into guns.... Now in g1 they had different tools they used because of what duty they served on cybertron.. Ratchets got the welder, ironhide has the drill and liquid nitro. Jazz had the grapple line.. I like tools born of the cybertronian forearms mmmkay..

I didn't see anywhere in his post it saying it was a problem. It was a question to why now are they holding them rather then having their arms transform into weapons.

I guess the easy answer would be Mech Tech?

I didn't say I had a problem did I? It's just another assumption that everything pointed out from the movie franchise is automatically a criticise.

I think I'm entitled to discussing something new that I find interesting thank you.

Yeah I was going to write about that but forgot to. I always liked his gun designs like the one he used against Megatron in TF1

why are people complaining about transformers doing what the've done in pretty much every other series? Transformers have always held there guns, except for Shockwave.

Honestly, I prefer guns to be built in. Or, if (s)he have to hold it, allow it to be part of the Transformation (and I don't mean detach, partially transform then stow it away), like CHUG Blurr, he did it right.

The Mechtech guns arent apart of them, they can transform with them but they aren't apart of their internal arm transformations, ironhides guns have never been "a part" of him, they are arm mounted, his new gun on his back is probably like a gatling gun. their internal guns are probably weaker then the new mech tech ones due to running off spark energy, while the mech techs run off of normal ammo.
