So today I was out looking for Transformers: Dark of the Moon on DVD and was hoping to find the 2-disc special edition but this question came to mind, "What's the point of life?" There are so many famous people out there who get recognition for everything they do but then there are the others just trying to get by in life. There are so many people who are starving and are fighting desperately for the things we take for granted. But even if everyone was equal, what would be the point of life? What is that goal we are all reaching for? What is the point of going through so many hard times? Why are so many people ridiculed for who they really are? What are your thoughts?

The point of life is what ever you decide it to be. We are each the masters of our own destiny and it is only ourselves that decide it.

That reminds me of my personal motto: it's the choices we make that make us who we are.

It's one of life's great mysteries, isn't it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some...cosmic coincidence? Or is there really a God, watching everything, you know, with a plan for us and stuff. I don't know man, but it keeps me up at night.

This belongs in General Discussion, not TF General Discussion.

Anyways, I believe the meaning of life is whatever you make it out to be. We are all here through a strange cosmic coincidence if you believe in evolution. The right conditions have allowed us to evolve from organisms who would never question why they even exist, into beings with the amazing sentience we have. The meaning of life is to exist as long as you can and to be happy doing it. For those humans who are heterosexual and biologically capable of reproduction, the meaning of life may also be about carrying on your genes. And even for humans that are not, they may adopt children and carry on their views and ideals, which are even more important than genes in many respects. Humanity as a whole is many things, and we contradict our goals often. There are so many types of people too. The meaning of life is a hard question to answer, as it changes depending on belief systems, your upbringing, etc.

But if we were really the masters of our own destiny, we would be able to enjoy the pleasures of life without worrying about the end.

I guess our "goal" is to live the life we want to and to do so we're willing to go through hardships to reach it. Though that doesn't always work out in the end. However to "answer" your second thought, you could say that many of our problems are a result of human nature.

I see what you did there. :lol

I think we're just simply spiraling coils of self-replicating DNA-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay-nay.

Where is that decreed? Humanity will always worry about everything; from being eaten by a tiger to why are we here? Being the master of your destiny does not instill a person with confidence.

Yeah, I kinda realized later on that it hadn't been released yet. By the way, does anyone know when the 2-disc version is coming out on DVD/Blu-Ray?

    The point of life?

You know when life gets really thin and sharp and it pricks your finger? That's the point.
