The deal with the PS3 costing $600, and remembering the XBox 360 going for redickulas prices on ebay, it made me think, what's the most you spent on things you don't really need?

Although I can't see myself spending $600 on a game system, I really can't say people are crazy to do so. I spent well over a grand for the sound system in my car. And I'm only in my car maybe three or four times a day, and no more then 20 minutes each time. The Magnum subwoofer below cost me $450, the box about $30 which I built myself, the Massive amp to power it cost $300. Wires about $40. That's already over $800 just for bass. That don't include the deck, the front speakers, the amp for that, more wires, and sound deadening (sorry, I don't share my music to the outside world, it's just inside my car). At least my shit ain't Sony Xplodes.

So what's the most you spent on toys, concert tickets, computers or whatever.

In all honesty? Close to $3 grand for an engagement/wedding ring. I've never really understood the whole ring thing, but it made her happy, so I was/am happy. It helped that I got one entirely custom-made from scratch (made it that much easier to blow the dough), but still...jewelry can be insanely expensive!

The most I spent on a single toy (which I consider nonessential) is $450 for Liokaiser box set MISB. I am not convinced I made the right decision but it's several years ago and I can probably get a good price for it if I sell it.

over three large for my little motorbike? plus 600 for crash gear before I ever had a bike. (One could argue, though, that with the intent to operate a motorbike crash gear IS, or eventually will be, essential.)

I picked up my PS2 after I graduated high school and paid $400 after games and accessories. A great friend... until it died earlier this year. I wish there was a way to tell how many hours I played on it. That would be pretty cool... or sad.

Beyond that... I bought a guitar. That was like $200... and it just collects dust. Also a mountain bike for $300.... also collecting dust.

    I'm not good with money!

I'm not considering my computer or my laptop as unnecessary because they've been useful timesavers in getting homework and professional work accomplished. In essence, they've saved me money or made me money, so I see them as "essential" enough to justify having them.

I'd say the engagement ring was pretty high up there. A distant second would have to be the stylized additions I added to my SUV back in high school.

I probably spent close to a thousand dollars for BotCon 04 (airfare, hotel and swag), but as I probably would've had a nervous breakdown if I didn't go on somesort of vacation, it could been seen as essential.

And there was something else I was gonna put, but now I forgot and need to get to work.

$73,000 for a house. Granted it'll be nice to live in, but it's not essential as I've got an apartment now.

hmmm.....a launch PS2 ($300 i think it was) which were at the time really hard to get.....sadly i really needed the money but ended up using it for this....and the fact that by the time i bought a game for it, PS2s weren't that hard to find anymore.

An X-Box ($250) cause i've had it for about 4 years now and i only played it about a dozen times (which were less than an hour each time)...i only got it cause i got me a fat relocation check.

car parts....never really needed it but i wanted to make it look nice....$1300 rims/tires, $250 headlights, $250 tail-lights, and at the time $500 on a set of front/rear bumpers, side skirts, & door ribs...

Hot damn I think we have a winner.

And that's why I don't regret dropping out of college.

And the thing I was going to mention in my first post was a custom box for my Cowboy Bebop Remix DVDs. Cost close to $40 after shipping et all. However, it's just so pretty....
