    Fiction vs Toys

What are you more interested in? I know some people only collect toys while others only have interest in the fiction.
I didn't put a both option cause everyone would vote for it. There would have been no point in making the thread

Should have put in a "both" option since I can't give only one answer in the question asked.

Definitely both. I can't really answer one way or the other.

Kinda tough question for me. I care more about the TFP fiction than anything else Transformers related.

That said, outside of TFP, I don't really give a shit about the fiction of the other continuities, but do rather dig their toys.

Everyone would answer "both" if that where an option, making this an incredibly droll poll.

I prefer toys over fiction. There have been many a great cartoon/game/comic, but they aren't quite as satisfying as solving the puzzle that is the toys.

I don't want to say that I'm trying to force everyone to answer one or the other, i just think most would answer both if it were an option. I want to see what people choose when they don't have that option. I want to get a clear look on how the two compare with TF fans.

I guess the fiction since it gives the characters personalities, they're fun to watch/read, and get people into the toys but then the toys are equally fun because they're puzzles that take thinking and are fun to play with and then customizing them is a rewarding challenge- oh screw it, just forget everything I said except fiction.

The fiction drew me to the toys. So I say the fiction wins.

Since there's no "both" option (which isn't there because everyone would vote it), I'm personally going to have to go with Fiction. Sure, playing with my toys and concocting elaborate battles and stories with them is fun, but it's just much more fun reading or watching it done by someone who is more talented.

I find the fiction the IP has built up to be quite interesting. The main concepts that have evolved since that toy commercial have taken something pretty basic and given it more depth.

That said I wish the fiction were stronger. I want it to develop other strong leaders so that the franchise can exist without Optimus and Megatron.

More interested in the toys. I can make up my own fiction. Can't make my own toys.

    Agreed!

I mean, I think I'm much more into the toy robots as objects in general , than I am married to the "Transformers" brand overall.
However, I can't discount the tremendous sentimental attachment the early G1 media has for me even to this day. It's the whole reason I'm here.

Still... I have a substantial collection of RID/AEC/Bayformers/Animated figures, and while I liked bits here and there, I really couldn't care less about most of those fictions. G1 is the only fiction I ACTUALLY care about at all. So in that sense, I guess the toys trump the fiction.

    Unless it's pre-1988 G1. Then it's about even. :)

I'm gonna say fiction, since I generally buy toys based on the character (Though I will pick up cool looking figures or figures with new and interesting transformations).

Fiction. Without that, I probably wouldn't be interested in the toys as anything more than a peripheral.

Toys. The fiction could go away entirely and I'd still buy the toys.
