I was walking through Walmart yesterday and was stunned by what I saw. Most of the Leader Sentinels are gone, but there are Leader Bumblebees EVERYWHERE! As if that wasn't enough, there are hordes of Deluxe Bumblebees clogging the pegs.

Not to mention Cyberfire Bumblebee hasn't even arrived! I imagine most of the kiddies have two or three Bumblebees already! Who is going to buy all of them!?

They're going to accumulate until they collapse under their own mass and create a black hole that will destroy the world.

I have a nagging feeling next week at SDCC we are gonna see a ton more Bee repaints and crap, like the previous hundred thousand others of him.And sadly I think SDCC is gonna be a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT for any new figures, its gonna be just Repaints,Repaints,Repaints with maybe 1 new mold of a no onscreen movie character of like Onslaught or something.

Give it time. They will sell. It always happens like this in every movie. It's not like BB is a Tuner Skids Skids or Mudflap.

    What Bumblebees?

Seriously, I went to my local Walmart and counted FOUR deluxe Bumblebees in the entire toy section (both regular pegs AND the pallet feature). All said, there were more Skids and Jolts than Bumblebee, and that doesn't even start on the extra cases of deluxe Prime my store got. Even the piles of Cyberverse Action Set BB were remarkably low.

Obviously, different regions with different demographics will skew differently, but I'm increasingly of the opinion that the entire "shelfwarming BB" thing continues to be vastly overblown by fans with no real grasp on what is really selling at retail.

Yeah, most places have a good number of Leader Bumblebees, but right now it is mostly collectors dropping $45 on a toy, and collectors aren't exactly hot for Bumblebee. But once Christmas season starts up, I'm sure these things will sell just fine.

    you win.

never thought of it like that, but from now on I'm referring to my Bumblebee collection as 'the hive'. I know some fans resent the continued production of Bumblebee figures, but like bees, they perform a valuable service cross-pollinating outside the fandom and ensuring the continued health of the franchise.

In my area, BB seems to move just fine. Sentinel Primes outnumber the Leader BBs here so they are selling. Deluxe BB seems to sell faster then the other deluxes. Even HA BB seems to sell better then HA Skids. Hasbro does seem to know what they are doing & BB does sell. A few weeks ago at a Walmart, a little kid was trying to decide which BB to get (Deluxe or one of those other $10 or below versions). He wanted BB, not another character.

The will sell eventually... By Christmas time or even earlier, those Bees will be sold...

I was wondering the same thing about the ROTF Power Bots Bumblebee which were warming the shelves in 2009, but most were sold even before the markdowns...

Just to clarify, I never said they were shelf-warming. Only that there is a boatload of them where I live.

You make a good point. Parents will probably buy them up like hotcakes.

What's all this about Air Raid? I thought he was a Japanese exclusive?

I'm seeing this problem with the leaders, but not the deluxes. The figure I'm most wanting to find is leader Ironhide, but he's the least likely given the swarm on the shelves.
