Labor Day -- at least in my experience -- is typically a day for get-togethers and good food. So, in that spirit, what are you doing today and what's for lunch/dinner/supper? (Note: Details of awesome meals still accepted even if they weren't had today, of course! Or, if they WERE had today, but it's not Labor Day in your area of the world.) Now, it's just the wife and me at home today. No parties or anything. But really, that's the way we prefer it most of the time. We've got the awesome food angle covered, though. Here's the taste-bud-tingling experience we just had: - Salad with red leaf lettuce, sliced "chocolate cherry" tomatoes (darker, slightly larger, and sweeter than your typical cherry tomatoes), and a homemade roasted garlic and basil vinaigrette. - Delicata squash (a.k.a. "sweet potato squash"), sliced into spears, spiced, and broiled so they're crisp on the outside. Basically, squash french fries. - A grilled ground buffalo burger, topped with finely diced habanero peppers under melted smoked cheddar and sautéed onions, on a buttered and toasted whole wheat bun. - All of the above was washed down with an orange piña colada. (That's your standard piña colada plus Triple Sec.) EPIC NOM. We always eat pretty well at home, but I've gotta say that this was the best meal I've had in quite a while. So, what greatness has crossed your palate recently?
