I went into my local comic shop today.
No Animated Arrival #5, No All Hail Megatron #5 -:(

I started looking for something which would earn my money.
They had the Voltron Omnibus -Don was involved with that, was he not?

Also, I think there was an IDW Zombies series he penciled as well.

Anyone know what my favorite Transformers artist has been up to lately?

Well, there's Shattered Glass, which was released to comic book shops last week. Definitely could still be ordered, though. There's an entry on the TFwiki about him, that might help you out.

On an unrelated note, what are the extras included in the Diamond edition of Shattered Glass? I ordered mine, but my LCS screwed it up.

What did happen to his zombie series??? And does anyone have a definite answer why Don isn't doing TF comics anymore?

He just got burnt out on drawing transformers for awhile. It may take a few years, but It's a safe bet he'll be back eventually.

Most TF-inspired artists have difficulty getting work outside of drawing transformers in my opinion (mostly, since they're fan artists and their first professional stint was tf-related). I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Figueroa is having difficulty getting work outside of robots & mechs; especially since he's been niched in this category already. However, that being said, I loved the preview drawings/sketches of his zombie (or was it vampire?? can't remeber now) stuff... I think he has talent in drawing humans too.

Drawing comics (especially for bigger & more respectable companies like Marvel & DC) is a tough industry to crack and even tougher considering that comics just aren't popular anymore - most comic shops go out of business or diversify themselves into internet cafes or 'hobby' shops. Not much of a future in comics either way... :(

Unless you screw over all your artists and keep your Porsche then you can get a job at Marvel Comics easy as pie.

LOL, yeah it's too bad about Pat Lee. Unfortunately, he was already an established artist (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) prior to drawing transformer comics; therefore, I wouldn't classify him as a fan-artist turned pro.

I disagree. Comic shops that run themselves as a BUSINESS, seem to do fine. Usually they sell Magic cards as well, but they go hand in hand. I think there are too many businesses out there that are run as hobbies by a group of friends in order to make their habit cheaper. Those places can go under really quick, but usually those guys are still held up in their mom's basement so they don't have much to lose.

Yeah, he was. He also knows Rob Liefeld, who despite his reputation among comic fans, has some pull in the industry. So there's something else you can blame on Rob Liefeld.
