It actually doesn't look bad for a Porsche. It's still not something I'd ever want or can really see the appeal of, but I guess it's nice that people can have a mid-life crisis and still save on petrol.

This is what everyone should be focusing on instead of hybrids.

The price is high now but within 5-10 years it will be so worth it.

I really don't see electric cars as anything but a dead end. You're still using electricity generated by fossil fuels, they need charging for insane periods of time between use and making the batteries ain't exactly eco-friendly.

    QFT!

Not necessarily. There have been some pretty cool developments in battery technology. I was reading about one development of hypercharge that would put the batteries for a Tesla to full charge in about fifteen minutes. Another one I was reading about was that they managed to incorporated a new material into batteries. If I remember correctly, the analogy used was a instead of powering a laptop for four hours, using this new material a laptop battery of the same size would power a laptop for four days.

It's interesting stuff. Batteries can also be properly disposed of. I take all my used batteries to a disposal depot. Not sure what they do with them or how they're disposed of. I need to do some reading on that, now that I think of it. Batteries become a HUGE problem when you just throw them in the garbage. So, properly executed batteries aren't so bad.

Not trying to raise the spectre of the global warming thread. But I'm curious to know what happens to these battery technologies I keep reading about. It seems that the technology is developed to a certain point and then just disappears off the face of the Earth. I'd be curious to know what's happening to the patents. That's probably a loaded statement, but it's not meant to be. I honestly don't know what happens to them regardless of suspicions.
