How can you admit to being too lazy to google it but can a post a thread asking for someone else to answer your question for you?
Valid question, but was it necessary? I thought that maybe someone else on the boards would be curious as to the meaning of the word as well, just for trivia's sake. If someone did know the answer and was nice enough to share the info, maybe a few other people could benefit from it. As for the "lazy" comment: Just my lame sense of humor. I'm just sick of hearing people respond to a question with "Google it", especially when it's accompanied by rude overtones. Anyway, my apologies for posting the question in the first place. And my thanks to Gort for answering the question without being rude about it. .
Don't fret it. That's a real reoccuring catch-22 on these boards. If you ask a question, at least some wiseass will be ready with the "google" comment. If you say "I didn't google it/I couldn't find it," someone will be ready with the "then how would we know/why do we care?" Response. It's like some wicked satisfaction kneejerk around here.
I think "what's a Meister" is a fine thread. I always assumed that Takara's name for Jazz was just a phonetic spelling of Master, and not really meant to be taken as a reference to yiddish or middle German. In that sense, it's just dumb luck that Meister is a weird enough name for a toy that Hasbro can Trademark it.
Thanks. I appreciate it. I actually assumed about the same thing, and the trademark info is kinda what made me curious in the first place.
I had always wondered what that meant as well. great topic. edit: wow. im suprised.. oh wait. nevermind. i forgot my block feature. Dont call him on his being rude though, youll get the warning.
I just assumed it was a Japanese mistranslation of "maestro", since G1 Jazz was known for his music system in the cartoon.
If the question you had was a serious Transformers-specific one, I could easily understand why a response like "Google it" would be a bit rude and unnecessary. In this instance, it just seems silly to ignore the option of Googling and state outright that you're too lazy to do it. But no matter, that's just . You're forgiven because this thread's getting ready to become really entertaining, hehehe.
I always thought it was pronounced 'My-Ster' I guess you learn something new everyday. And I get sick of that 'Google' emoticon too, it's the most ******ed thing ever to cross these boards.
Yes it was. Not being able to find out the answer to your question is one thing. Admitting to knowing how to find out the answer and just not doing it and expecting someone else to do it for you is inexcusable. There's a reason people say google it, it's because people are tired of people that expect everything be handed to them, here and in real life. This is why your comment of being too lazy to do it yourself rubs people the wrong way.
No. The most ******ed thing to cross these boards in the time that I've been here is that goddamn toca emoticon. Edit: And yes, I know that the next person to post is going to use that stupid thing just to be a wiseass. Well I'm expecting it. So it's not as funny now. Ass.
I agree with you and for some really strange and I guess silly reason, I though forums like these were places where you COULD ask questions you don't know the answer to as like an alternative to Google, since here you can get live responses from REAL people instead of just a list of web sites to search though.
I agree there are stupid questions that are asked here, but lately it seems that ANY question asked is answered with a "Use Google, you moron" type of attitude or that damn emoticon. Thats what bugs the hell out of me. QFT Yeah you're right, I stand corrected. The Google one is a close second though.
