If the TF movie in question were a psychological thriller set on Cybertron prior to the war breaking out, with lots of political intrigue? I'd be down for it.

Meh. I'm sure it would be better then what Bay has done but I'd rather see the franchise handed off to Zack Snyder. That guy does source material justice.

Enough of these childish hypothetical threads. It’s starting to get annoying.

I recommend using a more descriptive title of what you're posting in the thread. Had I known it was going to be about a hypothetical director, I would have skipped it.
Also, I recommend doing a search before starting a new thread. I believe there is already a discussion going about Nolan as a TF movie director.

I like Nolan, but his specialities are worlds apart from what a Transformers movie should aim for.

I'd like to see Nolan do more films that don't tie into other franchises from now on, frankly.

I'm thinking we should take the best parts of every director, put them all in a blender and - oh - so much blood...

I may have to rethink this idea. If I ever get out of prison for playing 'Will It Blend?' with directors.

On a serious note (yeah, I know - unlikely) though I do wish it was possible to pick and choose the better skills of each director and have that combined guy (Or gal. Or mutant) do the next film.

As for Nolan, I found both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight pretty boring movies. Dunno if that's better than Bay or not.

You know, I watch movies like "The Dark Knight", and I see them blowing up rows of cars so Batman can go through an alley, or giving the Joker a rocket launcher because it looks cool, or crashing a helicopter, or flipping an 18-wheeler because it looks awesome, and I think to myself "Why does Bay get so much shit for this very thing?"

Stitch them together Bruticus style and force them to direct via committee.

Nolan would never touch transformers if his life depended on it.

Nolan is a great director. There's no denying that. But I think his style just wouldn't work with a Transformers movie.

Nolan is an excellent director, but I don't really think his sytle fits with TFs [too moody and dark, not that I don't like this kind of movie, it is just that I don't think TFs should be like that].

Natchsider's suggestion however, of a "Cloak and Dagger" political prequel movie about how everything went to Hell and the War broke out would probably be the only situation where I think his style would fit nicely in Transformers, to show all the moral weight of the incoming War, there's no one better than him for that.

    ...You're serious, aren't you?

Anyways, I love Nolan, but I feel that his style wouldn't fit Transformers. Besides, I'd like to see Nolan do more original work like Inception, and less adaptions. Not that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were bad or anything, because they weren't, but I like it when someone like Nolan is able to create his own universe and not have to stay true to some kind of source material.

I think we need a newer director to take on transformers.

I think people will say that Bay doesn't hold a story together like Nolan does.

No problem, just trying to help out. And welcome to the boards!

Oh I get that, and don't disagree. It's just the whole "Baysplosions!!!" bit... most movies with action have them. I'm not sure why Bay gets singled out for it, when even Christopher Nolan throws explosions into a movie just because they look cool, and serve zero purpose.
