Spawned by a side conversation in one of the N&P threads. I'm curious - what would you consider a "large" collection? How many figures & accessories & etc. = "large?"

I thought my collection was pretty big at around 5-600 and downsized it to probably 200 max at this point and I STILL think that's awfully big.

What about y'all? Do you consider "large" to be 800+ or summat?

As I said in the other thread, I consider my collection of 800 to 900 figures to be large and I'd probably put any collection over 500 in that bracket.

Anything over 1000 I'd say was very large.

For me, "large" is defined by the space available for display.

A large collection would be one that fills a room floor to ceiling with shelves of Transformers Stuff.

As I personally approach the century mark of my toy robots, I think that a "large" collection is 200+.

When I was at 1,090 that was large! Now that I have narrowed my collection to 250 it’s still big but not as large as it once was.

I would consider a large collection as one larger than a normal person's collection

Or if they take up tons of space, I have a few shelves full and my desk is a battlezone, maybe because I they're in action poses

I just have over 150 and people gawk at mine like it is a massive collection....I could only imagine what it would be like to walk into a room filled with 800+ TF's

I think you could rate it like this

    1-99 Participant (small collection)
    100-249 bronze (average collection)
    250-499 silver (above average collection)
    500-999 gold (big collection)
1000+ "platnum collection" (plastic crack has made you high and poor)

how did I come up with this? well im on plastic crack based on this list lol!

It's all too relative, really. But yeah, I'd probably go with 500-odd as an actual large collection - I'm somewhere over 800, probably over 900, but I've no idea where as I stopped counting ages ago and it's too complicated to count due to things like mini-partners and micro teams.
    I quite like Backstop's scale.

My collection's nearly at 600, and it feels pretty bloody large to me.

Yeah, I'd say 500+ is definitely into the large range.

I guess if I had to assign a word to my own it would have to be "huge" then. I'm at roughly 1750...

i have a round 200 toys split between about 40% microman 40% transformers plus a few odd and ends, 200 is roughly my maximum 'comfort zone' i try my very best to swap out my collection, ie as i get new stuff im less interested in go to evilbay land. Although the deluge of animated is making my 200 look very much more 200+!

a big collection, hmm, over 500, ive seen friends with 1000 plus, i feel id be swamped with my toys at that stage.

I'd say 500, but that's a totally arbitrary number. And much would depend on the average size of each piece and what your home / storage situation was like.

Big collections are like pornography. I don't know what they are, but I know 'em when I see 'em.

I'd call it like eggs: medium, large, extra large and jumbo. :lol

Anything smaller than a dozen isn't a collection. Anything bigger than 100 toys is a large collection to me.

To me a large collection is a combination of quantity and volume. A collection of a 100 minicons would seem rather small compared to a collection of 100 Fortress Maximus' (damm that'd be site to see!).

Bottom line the adjectives "large" or "small" are too subjective.

I dunno dude, 100 Minicons all together on a table or shelf would be pretty impressive to me! Of course, I'd get too close and bump the shelf and knock most of them down. :lol

I have well into 1000 and it takes up a whole room and a full closet. I would say it's more then large, hugeish.
